Re: how to exercise new pup

I’m going on a backpacking trip this weekend with my older dog, and 9 week old puppy as well. I am keeping this trip to a short one, but I have a feeling I will be doing a lot more carrying the pup than her actually hiking, not only because of her stamina but also don’t want to take any risks of her...

Re: Crate training techniques

I know I’m not the only person that has ever had a dog like this that just will not accept the kennel. I know some of you advise to sleep next to the kennel on the floor with her for a couple of nights in the same room, but my wife and I need our sleep because we are so busy during the days, so the ...

Re: Where do your dogs sleep?

I'm going through the same thing right now, once she is in the kennel, without fail she screams barks howls, anything to make noise for about 30-45 minutes, than shell finally quiet down for about an hour than wake up and go through it all over again. So far I have just been playing the "ignore her"...

Crate training techniques

I know every dog is different, and different techniques work on each individual dog, but when it comes to crate training, what are some techniques that you all use to teach your dog “kennel” and also to teach them not to whine in the crate? I have tried multiple things, but nothing has helped her fe...

Re: First night with puppy, what to expect?

Our older puppy is finally starting to warm up to Oakley, (9 week old GSP) and they have started to wrestle with each other. My question is, how much rough house do you allow between a much bigger 50 pound dog and a 10 pound puppy. I have no problem with them running around playing outside, but I do...

Re: First night with puppy, what to expect?

Is it normal for my puppy to spaz out when I put her in the kennel? I cant get her to want to go in there for anything, treats, food, ect... Nothing has been working. I have had to basically force her to go in there, but what other techniques can I use so it doesnt seem so bad for her to be in there...

Re: First night with puppy, what to expect?

Yes at night we crate the older dog. He wouldn't have it any other way. We store them in our storage space under our stairs. Last night we left her in her crate next to the older one and she whined about 10 minutes after we put her in there, than she finally calmed down. About 3 hours later, woke up...

Re: First night with puppy, what to expect?

So just a little update of our pup. She slept with us last night, but I think that was a one time thing and she'll have to handle the crate from now on at night. I'm just nervous that she will never stop whining... Will the whining eventually stop? I am going to put an old shirt in there with her to...

I was wondering, can you just buy a transmitter itself to an e-collar? I would take the pup to work with me for a month or better as long as you can swing it. Mine would stay with me until they were about 6 months old or so. I have done this with all my pups but I mostly get pups in the winter time. I'd never kennel a pup with an adult dog - too much at stake with the...

I like that idea as well of running another chainlink fence to block off the fence, and that is probably the best idea.
