How do you get your pups retreiving
Im just interested to know how you get your pups retrieving and what techniques you guys like to use. Im currently getting a pair of 10 week old springer spaniels going at the moment, out of my own bitch. One is quite different from the other. I started with a little golf ball and one pups took pick...

Re: Taking incubator eggs from strangers.... ;)
i Know the feeling of being let down like that. i bought bantam eggs online from a dealer in the UK. a fair price paid too, but none of them hatched they were all duds. Also bought pheasant eggs from another man, same thing and he was only down the road.
I gave up on my hatching days after that!

Re: how much exercise do you give your pups
I had them years ago. I spent a lot of time walking then in different covers. Doesn't matter what shape the pup or dog is in, if they won't hiut cover they probably won't find birds. I didn't have training birds back then but I think I'd carry around a few quail with me. Just throw one on the groun...

Re: Anyone here hunt more than one dog at a time
How do you keep attention focused on two flusher's at the same time? Good question. this can be a nightmare at times. The only answer i have is to be quick with the gun and know how to read the dog when they are on a bird. It is hard though and frustrating at times! They older bitch i have i would ...

I cant beleive there is such a small window in some states to hunt them and that their migratory path oly has a fal of them for a short period. Its a pity as they are such a great game bird to hunt.

Stevoman, Do they still have Irish Setters that are hunting stock over there? Beautiful land out there! I wish all of our land was like it was way back when. Now there's land being developed everywhere, less to hunt on. Re: Introducing my Springer Spaniels
Hi Roostersmom. You should look into Irish or British lines if you are looking into a springer spaniel as we generally have them bred with short coats. On response to your question, yes there is ample oppurtunites to hunt in Ireland. As far as im aware we are very lucky the ways thing are set up her...

Re: Introducing my Springer Spaniels
Thanks fishvik. The coats on springer here tend to be very tight. They are bar far the most popular working dog in Ireland due to their never say die attitude in places like heavy thorny brambles and ditches. You dont very many long coated springers here due to the show dog fraternity not really tak...

Personally i would go with a springer spaniel, but thats just me, although i would love to hunt over a cocker sometime. Here in Ireland the Springer is king and most hunting homes work this breed. Cockers are not as popular here as they are in America, but i have heard that they can keep up with the...
