pheasants arent too hard to raise, they are just expensive to feed.

getting the dog on a ton of pigeons will help with this....and a remote bird launcher....sounds to like your dog just needs a lot of birds in a controlled environment to let it know what it is looking for....it will get there, it just takes time, patience and a lot of birds.

Grouse, many times, don't sit tight for a point. They are great walkers. That's probably what happened to your pup; he saw them walking out in front of him and broke. Or, he tried to relocate and bumped them. He'll learn. grouse are a hard bird for a young dog to settle on point...they usually dont...
