Re: Southern Appalachian Grouse Hunting
Yes fires are good for a forest but the fires that are going on right now are hard to combat and in a fire that's good for wildlife there needs to be some things left..... These fires aren't leaving anything.... It's gonna get worse before it gets better

Hey no worries about rubbing it in. If I had a cabin in Michigan that's where I would be. I never did hunt there but I drove over that way so I could see where it was. If the weather ever changes around here in gonna check it out. That's rugged country over there.

I would agree moving 1-3 or even 4 birds in a hunt doesn't mean that there are a lot of birds.....in 2011-2012 I moved at least half a dozen birds most times that I went out and some days well more than that. I'm sure several factors went into that...mainly we had had 3 years in a row of a GREAT har...

I just want to say that I had a great time with 4shot this past weekend. The main thing I want to say is that this man has got ALOT of adventures to share. He has THRU-HIKED the A.T....and that in my book is an awesome feat. If anyone else invites this man to go hunting they will not be dissappointed.

Well I can't speak for West anMiddle TN., but there are grouse in huntable numbers and you can find woodcock from time to time in the high mountain valleys and an occasional covey of quail. I live in East TN. and hunt both N.C. and TN.

I will shoot at a bumped bird, one that flushes wild, or one that I put up...my dog is not perfect, but he handles the mountain grouse best he can.
