i hunt near LA alot of the land is Private now. and upland this season has been unproductive ..duck's seem to be more plentiful
and i would not but my dog in freezing cold water . i was just simply thinking next year i will hunt more duck's then upland bird's .

i say Whoa on birds he does not Move he holds point until i flush birds or they self flush i thought whoa means to stay when the word is said i never tell him to whoa after the bird has flushed .

he is very steady on birds he is whoa broke but if the bird flushes or i flush the bird he will take off after it.

how often to run 6 month old gsp on birds
I recentley received a gsp pup 2 weeks ago I introduce her to birds following the perfect start dvd .and she's already has been shot over not gun shy. I been running her on homers in 3 remote launcher two pigeon size and a pheasant size witch I put 2 pigeons in 3 times a week sometimes twice a day ....

the pup will not pick up bumpers her mom is a natural retriever her dad does not retrieve some of her littermates retrieves naturally with no training ...and the guy I got her from said she retrieves frozen quail and chukar ...so I thought it would be good to try live birds to enhance it .ill give g...

ok so i have a 6 month old Female Gsp who i want to build her natural retrieving Desire up would like to get some Experience guys advice on it! i would like to get some live pigeons and toss them out for her in high grass and let her find them is this a good start?

AHGSP i think i will give the clip winged pigeon a try! i think shes not ready to be forced fetched shes still learning how to hold point i have not shot a bird for her yet....i was told to wait until she is broke to force fetch her....

My dog is 1 and a half years old and don't have her started yet she is very birdy points planted pigeons for a minute or 3 ...and I do plan to force fetch her so I will be looking into smart fetch. Thanks guys got the help very appreciative.

Thanks guys for the advice I will not shoot around her again until she r conditioned and I'm very sure she is ready ...now I hope I didn't ruin her...this is my first gun dog and I want to do it right for her. so we can have many good seasons together....

THANKS GUNDOG... there was a few people there at the time and i will start training him alone and work on his basic field commands since he knows his yard commands well ! and soon as the season starts i will put him on quail since the season is so close!
