I've hunted with some whiners, never seemed to bother the ducks, just the owner.
Just be thankful you have a dog with a strong desire to retrieve and take her hunting.
Oh yea, taking some shooting lessons won't hurt either.

My dogs ave. speed varies with the cover. In Michigan grouse cover they typically ave. 3-4 mph with miles covered up to 10-12, but typically 2-4. Distance does not seem to affect their ave. speed. Out west in the grass, their ave speed increases to 6-8, and the distances also increased to 6-12 miles...

They have a lot of free maps to put on a Garmin, some of them are pretty darn good.
I like the Birdseye, you might be interested in having satellite images too.

The Astro's only indicate point once. If the dog moves and points again, it will beep again, but only once.

My GSP went a couple rounds with this one before he retreated up a tree.
I would think that more than one encounter with your dog and Mr. mink would find a new place to hunt.
