The better lodges have a hundred dollars a day tip per gun and it goes down from their. That is on top of a wage from the lodge. You are taking all that risk with your dogs and someone getting shot being in the field with who knows who.

Re: Which is tougher to do?

I have trained retrievers for ever and at pretty high standard. My GSP shorthair is a break from all the yard work of training retrievers for me. Re: planting pigeons for a flusher

When I start my young dogs i use clip wings out in the field. I have used launchers to teach sit to flush but honestly who cares. If your dog will sit in a whistle sit to flush is easy. It is easier for a dog to mark a bird if he is sits to flush but again if the dog handles that not a problem either.

They have to at some point. The gene pool of natural pointing retrievers is so small not to. Go down the list of genetic traits of each dog and it really boils down to what you want. You are going to have give and take anytime you are trying to breed for one specific trait. No different as color or ...

For what you described you would be most likely best served with a good lab out of good working bloodlines. Point or no point, British or American the dog that are bred to hunt they don't care. Then it is up to you. I love springers and would have one but I am not a fan of the longer coat and the fa...
