Re: GSP Puppy Has Little Flaky Bumps
I have the same problem with my gsp at 8 months old. My vet originally thought it to be ringworm but after treating it and no change we still don’t know what it is. He assumes it is something fungal and to keep using the ointment. Just curious if anyone else has ever ran into this?

Re: Shed antler training.
Yes when bird hunting she will quarter the field in search of feathers. Her upland hunting is top notch and now in trying to locate antler sheds in the off season this is where we stand. If I have her at a heel position and toss the antler she will go out and retrieve it but when I set out a few ant...

Shed antler training.
So I am working with my dog to find and retrieve shed antlers. We have just started this and I am new to the sport but she is retrieving them well so far when I throw a single one. Where I have an issue is when I incorprate more than one antler in the yard she gets confused it seems. She will find a...

Re: Numbers south of Des Moines, Oskaloosa?
I didn't get out last season as much as I would've liked, but when i did i always saw birds. Never shot enough birds to fill my limit on any day but at least got to see a few birds. they were long hunts tho you can walk miles and not see anything. I'm hoping that our mild winter this year will help ...

Re: Inside or outside?
thanks for everyone's input on this, we tried to bring our britt inside but i feel like he would rather be outside. When he is inside he sits at the back door and just stares at me like well aren't you going to open the door lol.

Pigeons
Anyone on here know where I can get some pigeons for training here in Iowa. I can't trap them anymore cause a buddy of mine was fined for that, the dnr told him since there is a season on pigeons he could not trap them.

Re: Inside or outside?
I have heard from a few people that by bringing the dog in the house they lose a lil of their drive or become soft. I'm not sure on this, have any of you had this experience?

Inside or outside?
What are peoples views on having your gun dog in the house with you or outside in the kennel? What are the pros and cons of having the dog outside? My reason for asking is my britt is 6 months old and I am thinking of bringing him in the house. He has been an outside dog since we got him so we would...

Pups first year?
So this is my brittany's first year in the field, and i know that if i want a good pointing dog i shouldn't shoot the birds that he doesn't point. Know on that note it is his first year out and he is very energetic in the field, when he picks up scent he may flash point then he flushes. Should i be ...

Re: Brittany isnt showing signs of pointing
Ya he has excellent prey drive when we get the wing out and he will retrieve it if i toss it in the yard. Just didn't know if he should be sight pointing at this age because i have seen other dogs at his age point.

Brittany isnt showing signs of pointing
I just got an 8 week old brittany pup and have had him for a week now. I have started preschool training like crate and house training and i just introduced him to the pheasant wing on a string yesterday. All he wants to do is chase it, he doesn't even hesitate or creep up on it, just a full on run....
