Underbites are pretty common in American Field registered English Pointers. I have had several over the years with an underbite. I don't know of any issue that it ever caused. A minor underbite doesn't bother me any at all. I have seen some that are pretty ugly. Some very prominent producers in the ...

I agree with most of the posters here that you can probably get all of your training done on wild birds. I don't agree with the kenneling comments. I have three large dog pens, each is about 35 ft wide and 110 ft deep, about the size of a sub-division yard. I have a 5 ft tall horse fence around thes...

I live in Indiana, and I will try to answer your questions. 1. What are the prospects for new residents to have bird hunting opportunities? Not good at all for upland, much better for waterfowl. 2. Are there plenty of bird hunting clubs in Hoosier? There are several clubs and shooting preserves. 3. ...

Typical shotgun range in the field is a maximum of 55 yards, for goodness sakes! I would want my dog to just expeditiously deliver my bird to my hand undamaged. Go on the hunt and take your dog. Leave the dog in camp during the group hunt. At the end of the day when everyone is done, go back out with your dog alone and hunt for an hour or so. Next year the dog may be ready for the group hunt.

If you have a decent population of wild birds, I assume woodcocks, and it is legal, you should absolutely run your dog in those areas. The more wild birds that the dog can knock and chase, the better. The only negative that can come from this is if the dog just starts running wild, chasing deer, etc...
