Nomini Creek Kennel Virginia
Has anyone used Richard at Nomini Creek before. He used to be located in SW VA but moved to Fredericksburg recently. Wanting to get a little more water work in for my Griff as I don't have local access to do the work I want to do.

Re: Looking for a trainer in Northern Virginia
What kind of dog and what are you looking to have done at a trainer? Several in the area. I have been using Dawn at Kennel of Mill Creek Farm down in Kent's Store, here's their site, http://kennel.homestead.com/TRAINING.html Also considered Shady Grove and may use them in the future, they a little c...

Look up Sharpshooters in Lorton. They have classes set up all the time, its 4 hours or so during the week. Paperwork takes 6-8 wks normally to get your permit back from clerk of court.

The Potomac chapter will be closer driving time for you than the Rappahannock one. From what I have heard they are more structured on the their training days than the VA chapter. But the members will help with anything if asked there. I have not been to a training day in Potomac yet. Send me your em...

Thanks all knowing Doc. Sitting on a bucket kills my back. I will build my table, stand and be happy doing it. Besides myself and Blue if we meet up to train I have 3 other guys within 5 miles that would love to have access and use the bench now or in the coming months for FF.

I got the SmartFetch set I'll lend you when I get home Blue. Will be building a bench for the yard if you want to team up on FF when it starts to warm a bit, also can probably manage a few live ducks to train with.

There are quite a few within an hour drive. Shady Grove Preserve is up 17 not to far from you. Try craigslist for birds to plant, also the Rappahannock NAVHDA group isn't far from you either. Should look them up. I live in Fairfax so if you want to meet up for a hunt sometime let me know. http://www...

Re: Relocating to Tucson, Macon, Fredericksburg or Buffalo...
I'm about 45 mins north of Fredericksburg. There are a handful of quail around and do seem to be making a slow comeback in the areas I hunt. Real estate is manageable in that area but you do not want to go any further North. Traffic on 95 from fburg north is horrible. Plenty of preserves around. The...

Re: High powered rifle questions.
You can get nearly all the same calibers in an AR platform as a bolt action. Some states do limit magazine capacity on rifles which is managed easily in an AR from 5, 10, 20 or even 30 round mags. A 223 can do the job on hogs and deer but shot placement must be perfect to ensure a humane kill and no...

A torsion spring would make it spring loaded......
Thanks for rewording what I wrote. The first part about the auto door opener was just another idea or suggestion since he did mention possibly using a piston or hydraulic mechanism which is how an automatic door opener operates.

Re: Any Birddog DIY-ers Out There?
Maybe look into automatic door openers? No clue what they would cost but probably a little pricey. Or maybe a similar set up to a bird launcher using a the servo to pull a securing pin out and the silhouette pops up via a couple large torsion springs.

If he's crate trained then there shouldn't be that much of an issue. If your staying in a house/cabin whatever then just place the crate inside, if only taking your truck or whatever place the crate in there. There is a ton of time in between now and deer season to work on this, at night or during t...

Few covey of quail can be found but rare. Western part of the state you'll be able to find grouse. Good opportunity on the waterfowl action though.

I would have to guess that pigeons or any other bird, or whale, sea turtle what have you that has a huge migration pattern or route to find their home/breeding ground doesn't use the sun. Have quite a few friends with the R-15 used for varmints and predators, and they all love it. Some have changed the barrel out but that's it. The R-25 I believe picks up a bit of weight and the larger caliber can be tough on pelts, but you gain range and knockdown. However for the price you can put ...
