Re: My Brittany On Point
Nice video's, the only thing i would say is you need to work on your pup moving on point unless he is young and unsure of himself then that would be somewhat normal i think, he seems to have a good nose . I would love to hunt mearns someday, i think the area you were in is absolutely beautiful and i...

I think it is easy to blame the engineers and while i agree there are times when it is just bad engineering i do believe that trying to fit more in a smaller package has a good bit of influence on the subject. It is not just in cars either i have had to take ball nut's off of ball screws to install ...

Munster just remember opinions are like assholes everyone has one and they all stink . If it is not a pointer your friend gotpointers will never have anything good to say but the negative's of the subject breed and their owners will be posted for all to see(because they are all the same).

My dog is out of Nevene Kennels and has a lot of the dogs mentioned above. I asked for similar advice over 5 years ago and got great responses about some of the same lines---seems to me that great dogs (or lines) are still being mixed in by top breeders. I don't know if Gene Salmons is still breedi...

It looks like you need to break the routine , he knows where the birds are and is anticipating the find if that makes any sense and as far as his relocating or re positioning on the bird i agree with everyone else that you should be better with your timing with the launcher. I believe if you got him...

What kind of dog do you like to look at thats what i would go with and then find the right breeding, but better yet go watch some hunt tests, nstra trials or field trials and see what you like to watch work. Take your time on picking out a pup, also think about how far you plan to take the pups train...

i have hunted both like most people on here but with wild birds you have to earn them and there is no guarantee that you will see anything or maybe you will only see what you can not shoot.Nothing in life should be easy or free and everything should be earned including birds in the bag.

For someone to say they have never had any runners when hunting wild pheasant's i have to call bs, no matter how hard running a dog is or what distance they point from an old wild rooster will try to escape. Where you live i would pick a Pointer first second would be a Setter and third a Brittany and with the Setter and Brittany i would try and pick one that has more white to help with the heat.

IMO...just remember that this season is for the dog...its a training season. The birds will teach the dog. You will reward desired behavior and discourage unwanted behavior. I don't think its anymore complicated than that. Try not to put the dog in the field with 200 pheasant. However, pheasant is ...

There will be a learning curve as wild birds do not like to be crowded and we know how pheasants like to run, but it usually does not take long for the pup to figure out how much pressure he can put on them just be patient and DO NOT SHOOT ANY BIRD unless he points and holds to the flush.I would als...

1000 dollars for a 9 month old pup as you described her is a fair price, people need to really think about how much time has been put into that pup to get her where she is not just "sticker shock".I think sometimes people also believe that since the pup is a little older that they will not bond like...

I do believe pigeons and launchers can make the job much easier. I believe the Lion Country launchers are the best deal going. Couldn't agree more.
