I have two headed to Northern New Hampshire for the summer. One shooting dog and one fall derby. I do not have the means to summer train here and we have too many snakes.

Re: GROUSE HOLLOW FANTASY
Go to Willie Walker Setter Database, he is on there. It seems like old hemlock blood. He was possibly a dual setter.

Re: Handling a big runner
Yes I am on foot , he is from a known grouse line in Northern PA. He is heavy Sunrise and Brannigan and heavy coverdog with Reroy, Storm, Ultimate Reissue, Bodyguard, Spencer and others. He is tall and leggy and just covers ground. He has it all a great tail and he really cracks it. http://i65.photo...

Gotta get a handle on this pup
I have a 9 month old setter who is built to run. He makes 600 yard casts already and does hold it together somewhat in the timber. Whenever I get near fields or a power line he just lets it go and disappears. I am looking for advice on handling him without taking it out of him. I have not touched hi...

Re: Pennsylvania Grouse
Hunted Perry County this morning for 3 hours and had 6 flushes. I only got one shot. My older setter got stung in the nose area by some bees and was having major difficulty scenting the birds. I ran my pup after him and he ran strong but had no birds.

Re: Pennsylvania Grouse
I have been out 3 times so far this season. I hunted the first day in the Northern tier of PA and I hunted this past Saturday in Central Pa. We ran into a good amount of birds opening day and they were all based around Hemlock trees near young Beech. This past weekend the birds were once again near ...

Re: Stillmeadows Jim
I have a Stillmeadows bred pup now. He is 12 months old has lots of point and has a good natural ground pattern. I have seen quite a few Pennstar pups and dogs and they seem to have it all plus lots of speed.

Re: Whoa barrel
I just ended my 2nd week of whoa training on the barrel with my 10 month old setter. I have moved him to the ground after the last 3 sessions and today he was standing completely still and allowing me to walk around the yard. I set up a plastic barrel under my maple tree outback. I put my thick rope...

Re: Grouse Dog Range
My English Setter grouse dog changes his range to the cover we are in. If we are in a older cut and more open woods , he usually makes 175-300 yard casts. He covers the ground fast and makes big circles. When we are in thick cuts and laurel he usually is within 100 yards or so.

Re: Llewellin setter grouse dogs
I own a 9 month old setter from Riversides Kennel in Dauphin, Pa. I am very happy with his development on grouse so far. He found 3 yesterday on a ugly, snowy and windy day here in Central Pa. I would recommend their pups to anyone. I also have heard good about Lynn Hill Setters.
