Hard Mouth
I have a 1 year old English Field Cocker that I recently took dove hunting with me. She has retreived before and didnt have any issues with hard mouth, but as soon as she retreived the dove, she went crazy and started chomping down on it. I tried to get her to Drop it, but she ran from me!!!! I fina...

Flies!!!
Anybody have any good ideas or products that I can use to cut down on the flies around my dog kennel. I have the fly traps strung all around the kennel and it fills up in about a day. I spray out and clean the kennel everyday and it says farely clean considering its a dog kennel. The flies are bad t...

Question for ya! I have a 1 year old English Field Cocker and she lives outdors in a 6x6 kennel on a concrete pad. She has a cheap doghouse for now that she can get in if it rains, but I plan on buying her a nice insulated one for our cold Nebraska winters. The roof is also covered with a heavy duty...

Re: opinon on scented dummies
Shes a 6 month old English (Field) Cocker. She carries them around in her mouth. I don't let her chew on them. So far, she hasn't tried to chew them up and I watch her closely when there in her mouth. The dummies I use are just the plain white canvas and I have put a little phesant scent on them. On...

opinon on scented dummies
I was wondering if there is any harm in letting my pup carry around her scented dummies in the back yard and sometimes in the house. She is in love with them and likes to carry them around whereever she goes. Is it ok to do this or should I only let her see and play with her dummies when we are in t...

Re: Turd Gobbler
Gotta love those poop kissess!! :P I do pick up after my pup, I guess I'll just have to be faster at it. Like I said, once the bread is out of the oven, its the old spin around and then snack time! I'll have to be quick on my feet. I do feed science diet lamb and rice. Maybe I will try a chicken or ...

Turd Gobbler
I was just wondering if anyone else had a dog that recycles their turds. My 6 month old just started trying to eat hers. She seems to like them fresh out of the oven if you now what I mean. I almost lost my lunch the other day when I caught her in the act. YUK

Re: Restless in the house
I do use a crate with her and she seems to be ok in that, but once shes out of the crate its game on!! I like the idea of leashing her to me while in the house and keeping her next to me, I'll have to try that. She has a dog bed in the living room that I will try to "command her" to lay in it and st...

Restless in the house
I have a 6 month old English Field Cocker and had a few questions about making them a indoor dog as well as a hunter. I understand that she's still a pup and pups have tons of energy but she can not sit still. We can go out and walk/hunt in the field for 5 or 6 miles, come home, and she's still hund...

Re: What gun dog breed do you currently own and why?
I was wondering why the English Cocker Spainel isn't on the list. They are great upland game dogs and are good rabbit dogs too.
I guess I'm just partial to them since I hunt with one!

Re: My new English (Field) Cocker
Since game birds are hard to come by in my neck of the woods this year I thought I'd run this by you. I have noticed that lately when Im out in the field with her, she will flush up several sparrows and black birds and other non game birds. Would it hurt if she gets a good flush and I shoot some of ...

Re: My new English (Field) Cocker
As to your question, yes she will retreive a dummy with and without a wing on it. She just seems to like the scented dummy without the wings at this point. I will continuie my retreive drills with her and keep taking her out in the field to let her instrincts work. I receved her from a guy named Tom...

My new English (Field) Cocker
I'm new to this and recently bought my first birddog. Shes 5 months old and comes from a good breeder with hunting parents. Lately I've been taking her out to the field with me so she can just be a pup and so far so good. She loves to get into the brush and quarters fairly well with no dirrection. I...
