I would think every body personally wants a hard charging,hard flushing spaniel that gets the bird in the air in a hurry. Otherwise they would probably have a pointer. Of course an e-collar is not required. Think of it as a mile long checkcord. No more...no less. Having an e-collar does not mean the trainer can skip training steps or short cut them. If it makes 'contact' then it works.
Some breeds and coats on different breeds may require different adjustments on the collar.
