Re: get dog to load up in suv
Is the car turned off? My dog always loaded up with no problems until he took a big hit of exhaust right in the face. Now if he sees that big cloud of winter exhaust he gets kind of shy about getting in. If I shut the car off he jumps right in.

Re: Gatta poop eater, any helpful suggestions?
My young dog started eating my old dog's poop. It got so that he would not even wait until she was done. He would sneak right up behind her and eat it right out of the tapper. Pretty gross. I switched to a different food and he quit right away.

Fix the dog after you fix the problem. Why pass it on?

I have an imaginary gundog that always obeys me. I keep him in the yard with an invisible fence.

Re: Brushing teeth
I brush my dog's teeth with those $5 battery operated kids toothbrushes that you get at the grocery store. Put the doggie toothpaste on and shove it in the dog's mouth and hold it's mouth closed. I have used the spaceman and the robot with previous dogs. Current dog has the Indy car version.

Re: New to training and e-collars
Try real birds. Start with frozen ones. That might keep the interest up. I don't think that you can shock "hunt" into a dog.

Re: breaking a dog of door scratching
I had a similar problem with my dog jumping up against the screen door to be let in. You can't go out there because them he has gotten what he wants. -YOU.
I put an e-collar on him and watched from inside. The paws touch the door, he gets a shock. It only took two nicks. It beats fixing screens.

Re: Springer bike jogger?
I have had one for about 15 years. Just start very slow and be carefull so that the dog does not panic. After the dog gets used to it all you have to do is ride the breaks. You might end up using an "On by" command when meeting up with other people and dogs going in the opposite direction. Good luck...

You might want to check out the skijoring harness stuff at www.skijornow.com. I have a couple of them that I have used with my springers.

When our carpet was shot, I went with hardwood as a replacement. I like the look of scratched hardwood over the dirty and smelly carpet.

Reloading non-toxic shotgun shells
Does anybody out there reload with any of the non-toxic shot other than steel? I am considering buying a Browning BSS and I hunt on public land, so steel would be ruled out with a gun like that. Are there more things to consider than when reloading with lead? I have never reloaded any type of shell,...

Re: Turd Gobbler
You might want to try a different food. When my dog was young he would eat my older dog's turds. She was on a lamb and rice formula. A year after I put her down I tried a lamb and rice formula with the male, having forgotten about the old problem. It was not long before he started eating his own. I ...

Re: scott kennels vs runs on concrete
I am considering getting another dog, so I need to make a kennel choice. I have used a Scott kennel for 15 years and have been very happy with it, but I would be interested in hearing from someone who has really used one and did not like it, - not just "I heard about some dog somewhere sometime". Th...

Re: Dog Jumping Up
I watched a friend who used to train labs deal with a jumper. When the dog would jump up, he would not say a word or make a fuss. He would just catch the front paws and hold them up, and with one foot he would just reach in and put a little pressure on one of the dog's back paws. Nothing severe, jus...
