Colorado

Hey guys I just moved to Parker Colorado and I am looking for a club to train my dog on Pheasants and upland birds that is worth going to or becoming a member of. If you can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I've done searches but its hard to tell through someone's marketing BS.

I dropped by 1 year old Britt off with Jon last weekend and I am as excited for my pup as I can be. Milo will be there for three months working with them. For anyone thinking about it, I really find Jon and his staff to be very personable as well as knowledgeable. I'll keep ya'll posted on how it go...

Re: Looking for a Trainer in the midwest

I decided to send my Britt to Perfection Kennels. I talked to Jon for a while and just feel this is the best thing for me. I am super excited to see the results. I also joined the NSTRA Dog Club here in Central Indiana so that I have a place to work and maybe compete with him after his training. Wha...

Re: My Brittany Pup

Congrats I love Britts. I tend to like the process Perfection Kennels uses over George Hickox. I've studied both methods and loved the perfection kennel approach more for my brittanies.

Re: What to do? Pup keeps catching songbirds!

Thanks Ezzy for that note. I introduced my 2 month old to birds last week. first I did the HuntSmith style with a dead quail and let him just get confident with it. Then next day I held live bird in my hand let him sniff them and then I let the bird fly off and let him chaise. Then next day, I took ...

Re: Chain Gang Questions

Thanks for your reply. If what you say is true... why would Rick and Ronnie Smith suggest doing it? I am not saying you are wrong because I think there are all types of styles. I just highly doubt both Rick and Ronnie Smith would say chain your dog up alone in their DVD if it was a bad idea.

Okay I admit it... I am a Newbie. LOL. The more I read on this forum the more addicted I am becoming. To tell you how new I am, for the first time ever I looked at my pup's AKC litter Certificate last night. Never asked about breeding history during the whole buying process.... Yeah I know... laugh ...

The GSP club of indianapolis will hold its AKC Hunt Test at the end of March at Glenns Valley Conservation Club. I adopted 1.5 year old gsp a few years ago and had no idea what I was doing. I went to the test and started asking questions and joining conversations. Got asked to join Glenns Valley an...

Re: Field Trials and Hunt Tests - Basic Explaination

And the purposes are: 1) Determining which dogs are "Best" for breeding purposes. 2) You can spend more time behind your dog outside of the hunting season window. 3) Generally, dogs that play these games are better trained than dogs who don't, so in the end we get better trained dogs to hunt behind...

Pup "Milo" is getting lots of socialization. 2 hours a day with kids. 1 hour a day with other dogs(not hunting dogs). 1 hours a day in walks in the fields, woods and creeks. 1 hour of one on one time with me on my lap before we go to bed. 5 minutes a day of just being on dog table as introduced by H...

Chain Gang Questions

So my Britt pup is 8 weeks old and he has been loads of fun already. We pretty much have him crate trained even though he rarely but sometimes barks and whines for up to 10 minutes when we put him in. He learned real quick that isn't going to get him out of the crate. I started putting him on the ch...

Field Trials and Hunt Tests - Basic Explaination

I am new to all of this and I am having a difficult time understand the difference and the purpose behind them. Hey gang... new here to the forum. Live in Indianapolis and own a small farm in southern Indiana. Not a lot of birds even though I am planting Milo this year to help where ever I can. 15 years ago someone stole my two Britts and I moved on to retrievers. Now with my lab being on the downside, I have...

I have not attended his school but have attended one of his seminars about 10 years ago at a local preserve. I didn't take my dog as they used other dogs to show. I thought if you attended his school you bring your own. I would just call them and verify.
