+1 to finding a proper training program, personally I used the one on the George Hickox Pointing dog DVD. In general it follows the standard teach, enforce and re-enforce progression. One thing I liked about it was it’s not about 50,000 volts of compliance. The teach phase was very open and on my ne...

I have a Yildz but in 12 my son has the Franchi in 20 the only regret with my yildz is it is in 12. 1-1/8 oz loads can still turn a bird inside out if you are to snappy off the mark. The Franchi is the steel receiver version and with 1 oz or 7/8 oz loads recoil is minimal. One thing is at least with...

For a long and healthy life you must feed your dogs, kittens, baby bunnies and butterflies.
Raw naturally, live preferably
And if you can get them baby seals, because they have high omega-3 fatty acids

I switched to straight pellets for feed so it's less of an issue now. but even as small as my loft is I get way too much of it.

Retrieve from drag training ( typical V-dog thing)
Beginning duck search, before we use live birds (another V-dog thing)
FTP
Water marks
Saving a goose or two helps smooth the transition
Though mostly waterfowl, once thawed I keep them in the fridge between sessions, they usually last a week.

Crappy fly birds are hard on pointers too, they are usually throwing tons of stress hormones and they smell wounded to the dog.
From a safety point of view, I would think stop on flush would be a desirable thing on a preserve, since you can’t bank on the client not shooting at a low birds.
