Have you noticed that the hair on his/her head doesn't cause the breakout? Ever been pricked by a pine needle? I'm pretty sure it's not an allergy to skin products like many animal allergies, but a reaction to being pricked by those rigid hairs from the neck to the tail. Normally it is only the sens...

Re: Your pups point of view (caution, motion sickness probable)
It was a great hunt. Shooting was quite rough, glad the dogs can't talk... It would have been a long ride home for me. If you watch close the video will speak for what a hard time the dogs had. You'll see a few birds pop up unexpectedly. 65 degrees and no wind made it a little difficult I think. Coo...

Your pups point of view (caution, motion sickness probable)
This is a video shot from a GoPro Hero 3 from the back of my GSP. It was cut and edited to focus on the points, flushes and retrieves. Pretty cool to see the birds fly within the dogs view. Not for the soft of stomachs. Enjoy.

Mine has full run of the house 24/7. Crated for one year exactly then slowly allowed more access until proving he was good for it. Dew claws were a big problem for me. Both lost the outer portion of the nail in the first year hunting. Fortunately it was at the end of the season and my dog only lost one day of hunting and didn't indure too much pain before surgery was a must. Surgery and, most notably, recovery was truly a pain ...

That "attack" post is an exact scenario from my dogs past. However, the attack on him resulted in a wary dog towards dominant male dogs. He was caught off guard once and will never let it happen again. If a dog comes in bowed up, I know it may be a showdown. He is not allowed to nor has he ever been...

Man, I am no pro trainer by any stretch so I could have very well screwed my dog up. He obviously hates his e-collar. Get a ball chunker. You will tear your arm up throwing a frisbee that many times and you can throw a tennis ball much farther with one of those things. You can't attribute human emotion to a canine. Dogs, if treated properly, will desire to be near you and be happy to do so. Every dog breed we hunt with has an innate desire to learn and work. Their attention spans, however, change with time. The dog WILL enjoy being near you on heel but the length ...

The behavior was normal dog behavior in a stressful setting. If the shorthair was truly pathologically aggressive, he would have struck, not postured. Lack of training and willingness to recognize the situation is an owner problem. HOWEVER, your dog should have been leashed out because they only ha...

Communication between handler and dog is much more clear from the beginning with an e-collar. The repeated necessary use of the collar is a sign for the need of more concentrated training. In an ideal hunt, the dog is never corrected with the collar. Day to day, however, attitude may change and dang...

Try a dandruff shampoo to wash the dog. If he gets no more than 1 bath every other month it will not be costly and you may alleviate a majority of the skin issues with one wash. High calorie food, as much as he will eat. Make it good, gravy it up to encourage to eat more. Higher fat content means higher calorie. Don't sacrifice good protein but calories in must be greater than calories out to gain weight in any scenario. Good luck as it ain't easy.
