Re: Dog House Question...
Towels are a good option, be sure to shake them out as much as possible before throwing in the washer, all the dog hair can eventually plug up the machine...I know this from experience. I have a old washer I use just for washing dog towels/blankets.

Re: Sit at a distance command?
I also train my dogs to sit at the whistle at any distance. Problem is they have the urge to run up to your side and then sit down. Method I use after dog knows command is a 10 foot piece of conduit with a snap ring bolted to one end. Basically becomes a long rigid leash. Give whistle blast, dog isn...

Trapping Weasel?
I just got rid of a problem fox and now I saw a weasel in the back of my property by the brooding house and pen. The brooding house is secure but it will definitely be able to get into the outdoor pen (chicken wire sides about 8 inches of the ground). Anyone have any ideas/suggestions on how to trap...

Re: Flight conditioning quail
Like Rick said yes it is possible and they have good flight without being conditioned, just can't fly very far at all. I put my food/water up about 6 feet in the pen which works but makes feeding/watering a pain. Rick's method of short fences seems to make more sense, think I'll be changing my pens ...

Re: Dog Doors revisited.....
I have the gun dog door you are referring to on each of my 4 runs. Great door, holds up very well, pups can't chew them either. Only complaint...they are loud. Can get annoying listening to the britts constantly running in and out of them when I'm sitting on the deck trying to enjoy the peace and qu...

Re: Help with lab Patience - 1.5 Years old
Asking a 1.5 year old dog to sit for 20+ minutes is a lot to ask. Dog is still young. Bring a dummy with and do a few water retrieves when things are slow. The first few years of hunting are still training exercises for the dog so if it means bettering the dog and sacrificing a few birds killed, it'...

Re: New guy from ND
Hey tyler, you must be thinking of the Dakota Hunt Club west of GF, that's not me. Nice looking wirehair you have. We also have a wirehair in addition to the Brittanys, he's a little over 2 years now and what a handful. Needs a LOT of exercise and attention. Exercising him in the summer can be a cha...

Re: New guy from ND
Mark, you are correct I am pretty close to Emerado (5 miles south and 2 west). Don't see much business from the base. Good to hear we have a UND grad around. But the question is, are you a Sioux or Gophers fan....? Only have chicks available right now as far as birds go. Later in the summer and fall...

New guy from ND
Hi all, been reading the forum for awhile so figured I would join. I'm a 27 year old avid hunter from North Dakota with a passion for bird hunting, live 15 miles west of Grand Forks. Have 2 Brittanys (3 year old male and 1 year old female) and a retired lab. Been training dogs for a few years now an...
