Re: Conformation
I'd love to more closely understand conformation. I get told my Britt has excellent conformation by vets/breeders, grant it he was intended to be a show dog. However, he would be very capable in the field with dual champion lines, if I were to find someone to train him. Though he's content with bein...

1 Britt, and 1 Yorkshire. The Yorkie doesn't really count because she's basically like a cat in that she minds her own business, stays under the bed, and comes out to eat, whens he hears car keys, and go for a walk. My Britt is an 11 month old handful. He is rowdy and messy and stubborn, but he's su...

I signed to this forum with a toy breed and checked "no" for hunting. I do have a bird dog, but I don't hunt. I have found tjis forum very helpful, but I didn't know its members were so inclusive. I enjoy learning about what my dog was bred for, but if I can "learn" through lurking, makes me feel ex...

Re: crate size for Brittany
36Lx 24Wx 27H has been perfect for my Britt. He can stand up with a few inches to spare over his head, and he can stretch out if he wants. But it's still small enough to discourage soiling. When he was younger, I put a box inside on one side so that it would be smaller while he was being potty-train...

What does a dog being "forced fetched" mean? I think I may have an idea, but I see it all the time, and I'm not sure.
Is it a good thing or a bad thing?

Seems like Seven is a natural, Fran! I'm not a hunter, but there are some aspects in obedience training that my Britt has just always done naturally. Musher's Secret Paw Wax. Very cheap, great reviews. The older my Britt gets (8 months), the more exertion is needed to calm him down. The diarrhea saga continues. His mood is still upbeat! He is worms free. After I gave him rice and chicken, we went a whole day without a bowel movement at all. Then a few instances of solid feces. Weird Bowel Movement/Diarrhea
I'm worried about my pup. Yesterday, he ate a ton of grass, and this morning, he had a really loose bowel movement. Nothing for alarm, it happens. So, I fed him breakfast, and he ate like usual. True, dominance is not equivalent, but many still use the term to describe various methods of positive punishment. I wasn't lumping them together but grouping them as both forms of what would be considered positive punishment.
