Danner and LaCrosse Faithful. . . new outlet store.
I found Danner's and LaCrosse's factory outlet store. The last sale they had, had three price categories of $25, $50 and $75. There were several $300+ Danner models in there for $75... it's free shipping and returns. Hope this helps somebody find a steal next time. It appears they have a sale every ...

Re: Thinking about/ looking for Dual type setter
This is all mostly rhetorical, don't mind me there's no right or wrong. But I do not get the "close" range ideology when it comes to pointing dogs. If the dog is within gun range or just a tad further, why not just get a springer spaniel and get a specialist at that game? I can't tell you how many d...

Re: English Setter Bloodline Traits
For Florida and a cover dog, do your homework on heat tolerance! The fact that you're going "field" (aka trial dog lines) doesn't 100% guarantee you'll end up with a super dog, but it does increase the chances over some of the other setter types. Most of your horseback trial setters handle the heat ...

Re: Remote Backer
I use mine differently in that I use primarily in the breaking process. After the dog has fully engrained in its mind that the only way to stop the stim on the belly band is to stand, I introduce birds. Bird in launcher and silhouette nearby a dog is check-corded (long one) up within sight. A natura...

Re: Latest Acquisition... I'll think I'll keep him around awhile
I think it is freaking great!BUt why would you want to use a tethered pigeon on a dog like that? Let it fly. Why risk him catching? Training birds from the year before had been depleted, all I had were young homers that had only been in the loft for a short time. Pup needed some birds, on the contr...

Re: rst shot shells
RST is all I use anymore in both older and newer doubles. The quality and continuity is unmatched. Do not be deceived, they are low pressure and low recoil but they really swat birds out of the air. http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff469/lyco_setter/0e8c6f4e-df3a-4847-9166-715b7bbb7197_zps71098d3...

Latest Acquisition... I'll think I'll keep him around awhile
This is this guy's third time on any bird, he's been getting just enough to keep him hungry for more while he grows and matures... at 16 weeks old, I'm happy.

Ray,
I wouldn't bother continuing on, the overwhelming majority has either endorsed your opinion or have posted their own which is very similar to it. I think at this point the issue here is; not wanting to be proven wrong, likes arguing, won't take no for an answer, doesn't get it, etc.

Ithink you did well the first time. Then you set it up again and exactly what I'd think would happened, no suprise there! Right at that point someone should have beat the snot out of you. There are a lot of dogs that will do that. Thye dog is a kennel dog and there is no reason on earth why the kid...

I concur with Ray G, and it's nice to see other dog owners out there that also treat dogs for what they are and not like their own children.

Mine broke! It's still in service but it's not going to last much longer. I have a call into the manufacturer, but the door has been discontinued, so not holding my breath for replacement parts (even with the lifetime limited warranty). Anyway, we have 6 or so dogs running in and out of our dog doo...

I use to use Frontline but have since switched, http://sidexsidesetters.com/blog/?p=675 but since your dog is indoors I'd stick with Frontline or Advantix. Having a tick remover on hand is a must and the Tick Key has by far been my favorite of them all. Even with the best protection you'll still fin...

This may not sound all that secure as an actual padlock but perhaps just installing the door backwards, drilling a hole through the end of the pin for a beefy cotter pin?

Those within driving distance should really take advantage of this opportunity, both trial vets and new guys. Vets can get a refresher on what it's all about and newbie's can really get an education and some valuable experience to hit the ground running competing in trials .

Looking at Jim's record as of 5/2011, he was 18-84-458. (Times Placed-Winners Produced-Total Wins of Progeny) I'm not sure how much younger Pennstar is, 2-3 years I believe, he's 30-72-375. Long Gone Agnes was 36-17-161, and Long Gone Madison was 40-1-4. Grouse Ridge Storm was 20-34-106. The second ...

Re: Winter proof dog houses
I don't have specific plans, but I built my own. Mine was overkill. 2" foam board all around, sandwiched by 1/2" plywood inside and out. Big enough floor plan to have a vestibule with partition to keep a draft off. I used a K9 Kondo door. With cedar shavings they're toasty proving their own heat by ...
