Thanks for the kind words, north. She is a trooper for sure.
Cj, what kind of symptoms were you seeing? One of the things that is baffling me is her cough. She doesn't cough all the time but when she gets up to walk around she will cough a little.

Re: Pup is very ill, please help.
Well, good news at the vet today. Her lungs showed no signs of anything wrong, which would indicate there's no blasto or it's extremely early. We sent off a urine sample so we will know about blasto/histo soon. The vet said it's early enough that it should be fine with proper meds. Another possible ...

Thanks, I will look into it. I am back in forth between Central and Western Kentucky. I'm going to get her checked for blasto tomorrow. After reading things, I'm scared to death.

Re: Pup is very ill, please help.
Mountain dogs, great advice. I will keep a log and a close watch on her tonight. Thanks to everyone else too. Every piece of input helps. Just to clear things up, she has had blood work done to check for any abnormal levels (white blood cell and such) and they checked her abdomen/belly with their ul...

Thanks, guys. Still no diagnosis. She stayed at the clinic that spayed her and I also took her to another vet. They did blood work and checked for fluid in her abdomen but can see nothing. The vet said there was a possibility of blasto but as of now, I can't afford looking for it. I'm going to keep ...

Thanks, I will definitely ask about it. I did some reading and she surprisingly shared a lot of those symptoms. Would that cause a high fever? I haven't seen any signs like these in her before.

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could possibly shed some light on my current situation. It's been extremely stressful and being that I'm a student and my family is struggling financially, it makes it even more difficult. My girl is a 1 year old GSP. She recently was spayed on Thursday and was go...

GSPs and Labs are beautiful creatures. But like stated above, hard to beat an Irish Setter as far as looks are concerned.

GSP Pup (Lots of Pictures)
Well, Molly is turning 13 weeks this weekend. Thought I would post some pictures. She was the runt and was extremely small when we took her home (3.25 pounds at 8 weeks), but she is coming along nicely now, growing like a weed.

Awsome ya I spoke to my breeder and he is feeding Authority Puppy feed so I will stick with that for a week or so it sounds like than I will slowly switch over to Imes dog food. Those are my thought but I am new at this. sound good? Don't get too caught up in the brand-names. Just make sure it agre...

I'm feeding Purina Puppy Chow, which was what the breeder was feeding. Although he said he was feeding some of the smaller pups a little wet food on the side. But like I said, after her trip to the vet, she ate more in an hour than she usually does in a day. Although she seems like her stomach is up...

Hey guys. I've had my 8.5 week old GSP for 4 days now and every day I've had her she's had loose stools and diarrhea. I took her to the vet today for a checkup as well as her 2nd parvo shot and I mentioned the diarrhea and showed him her paperwork which listed everything she's been given. She had be...

Well, Molly turned 8 weeks yesterday so we made the trip to pick her up. Goofiest thing I've ever seen. She's the runt of the litter (obviously) and super small, although her appetite is starting to pick up. She's still a little scared of all the new noises she has been encountering. Oh... And her s...

The breeder I bought my GSP from feeds his puppies 1 tablespoon of real whole fat yogurt and 1 tablespood of 4% cottage cheese or higher fat content with every meal. Don't worry about her being the runt of the litter. Sometimes the runt will surpass the others in growth once it's removed from the litter. Just feed your puppy normally and take her to your vet within 2-3 days of getting her, take a poop sample with you to rule out parasites. Feeding her a food th...

Hey, guys. I will be picking up my pup in a few weeks and had some questions. All dry dog foods need carbohydrates to make kibble, whether you choose a grain or vegetable as the carbohydrate is a choice you should think about. Since your new puppy has been eating a grain based food you might want to consider a food with grains as the transition will be easy. Grains help impr...

They are totally different. Taste of the Wild is made by Diamond and it is a grain free food using potato, whereas Native is a traditional chicken and rice/grain food. Thanks for the replies. I plan on asking the breeder when I go to pick her up, but I'm assuming it's out of my price range. And Canidae is as well. If not Diamond, than can anyone recommend any brand that's under $1 a pound? Brands like Loyall don't look to be available without a long drive.
