Re: When to Force retrieve

I guess what I was trying to do is to see if I could get any reaction out of him, which I did not & yes I admit that was a Rookie mista...

Re: Beginner

Me personnally...I start with name recognition.& Basic obediance.Sit, Down,Stay & a lot of distractions instead of No...Make playtime fun. Get her adjusted to her new enviroment for a week or so and by that time you should have your book and follow that to the T & you should be good. Good luck.

I like Dokkens Retreiver handbook...it's fairly cheap and takes you through the whole process from socialization to Hand Signals. You can go right to his website or Gundogsonline.com Good Luck on your new Pup.

Re: Intro to water

Thanks for all the advice...much appreciated. Well, went to the Lake & the temp was only 55 Degrees. Dog went in up to his shoulders but not for long periods of time, he loved running back & forth on the shoreline trying to chase minnows in a couple of inches of water. Well i think I can check the f...

Intro to water

Well Headn up to the Cabin for the walleye opener...I'm more excited to see how my 10 wk old pup reacts to the boat, & most importantly the water. I hope it's warm enough for him to wanna take a little dip. I've had him in the tub & he has no fear of that...but I'm wondering about water temp. I thin...

My guy has it down pretty well too...now that he can get up & down the stairs by himself it's like clock work... but I won't let m...
