Re: Odd Work Schedule and Training

Taking the dog with me to work is a possibility as I would be outside enough sometimes, although realistically I couldn't do it every time. But I could maybe manage every other time or third time. And I should be able to get it out in the field almost every day on my off time, in addition to trainin...

Odd Work Schedule and Training

Ok, so days away from putting down a deposit on my first GSP I find out my work schedule might be changing (due to a transfer/position change) to where I would either be working 2 weeks on 2 off or 1 on, one off. And I would be out of town while working. Is it possible to give a bird dog the proper ...

Re: Digital hearing protection

The 20 decibels is the amount it reduces the noise before it gets to your ears. But thats only with a perfect fit. I'd look for something a little higher because shot gun blasts average around 160 or higher sometimes and permanent damage starts occurring around 120.

Re: Best breed for me?

As far as trainability goes, I've read that flushers are somewhat easier to train. Any truth to this? And which type would be better suited for fur, ...

Best breed for me?

Ok, I'm pretty much new to bird hunting and I'm looking for some advice or opinions on the best dog to start with. I know this might be sacrilege around here but I'd really like a dog that can do birds first and foremost, but still do squirrel and rabbit hunting, and possibly some blood trailing. I'...

Re: A little about you...

Hey guys, I'm a 25 year old guy and I just moved to WIchita, KS almost a year ago. I've been hunting since before I can remember, basically most everything except for birds (quail population was horrible where and when I grew up in Oklahoma), turkey and small game are what I hunt for most these days...
