Re: Just curious Thunder storms
Over many years and hundreds of dogs I am yet to see any connection between thunder storms and gun shyness. I have had many dogs that didn't like storms that had no problem at all with a gun and vice versa. Ezzy Exactly right!! Charlie Dead on in my book. I had an old britt that was not gun shy in ...

Re: versatile brittany
There are a handful of britt owners that are really serious Navhda folks. http://www.whoa-boys.com/catura/PAGEI.htm My dogs back int he 80s would have made excellent Navhda dogs. We always used them for duck hunting, generally after age 3 or 4 they would calm down enough to stay still in a duck boat...

Re: Brittany Pedigree Questions
Some very nice dogs back in that pedigree including some Dave Walker dogs. I never saw Roy run but his win record speaks for itself and one of the only dogs I know of to win both the amateur and open national championships. He was a big running all age dog and from what I have heard really throws th...

Excessive Barker
I have a new GSP pup that is going to be one heck of a bird dog but he is the noisiest dog I have ever seen. When I put him in his kennel he will bark constantly for as long as an hour. I have had pointers and Britts that barked a lot but they usually would stop once they realized they weren't going...

Re: Old Dogs and New Seasons
Lost my boy Tex two years ago. Not enough run for a trial dog and a little hard-headed for hunt tests but he was the best hunting buddy I could have ever asked for. Finally ready to take the plunge and get a new pup.

Re: picking a breed
You are in luck, The Texas Navhda chapter is having testing days on October 19-20 not far from the DFW area. Should be a good group of versatile dogs for you to take a look at.

New GSP Pup -- NAVHDA vs Hunt Tests
I am looking at new GSP pups and have an interest in a more versatile type hunting dog and would love to try NAVHDA testing. I have experience with AKC field trials but virtually no experience with NAVHDA or AKC Hunt Tests. For those that run in both venues how would you compare the requirements/dif...
