I think you're overthinking this. 20 x 30 is huge. 5 x 15 would probably be plenty. 7 hours isn't that long to be alone, especially if he is in an outdoor run. A dog house is fine, but honestly a barrel laid on its side with straw in it works just as well. Even better if you put it on a stand about ...

Those dang lasers. My in-laws played with one with my dog. Now anytime he sees reflected light, he tries to bite it. It's really annoying in the car when he gets drool all over the headliner.

June bugs for mine! Funny cicada story though - a few years ago we had a double hatch (when the 7 year and the 17 year come out at once) - the local specialty ice cream shop made cicada ice cream for a few days until the health department got wind of it. I wasn't in town, so I didn't get to try it....

Probably has to pee. If the problem is just barking for attention or for no apparent reason, a cup water in the face is a great deterrent.

I got a pup from Craig over the summer, and so far (6 months old) I'm really happy with him. I will say that I have no desire to get into field trialing, and don't have a ton of experience with pointing dogs, but I have been impressed so far. Craig is a great guy, as is the rest of his family.

I'm not a duck hunter, but a good friend of mine has hunted Grand Pass and says it has been pretty good. If you're willing to drive a bit, Eagle Bluffs CA is supposed to be really good. It's just south of Columbia, so it can be crowded and I don't know how the new draw system works.

Concrete is so convenient that I wouldn't recommend anything else, but in Delmar Smith's book, he talks about using sand because it makes the dog's feet stronger. only problem would be urine in sand.no.2 would clean up easy. We have a GSP that is about a month younger than your brit, and went through a similar process when we brought him home. You really need to just ignore the noise at night. We did that, but he would keep yapping for hours, so my father in law recommended spraying water in his face and saying "Quiet"....

I don't know about traveling through Canada, but I've heard a lot of good things about cedar ribbons. They supposedly kill bacteria and keep the crate cleaner.

One nice thing about a youth 870 is you can replace the stock with one of normal size when he outgrows the youth stock. And it will be cheap.

I actually really like the lighter colors, but most dogs' coloring changes during the first few months of their lives. Just out of curiosity, has anyone seen significant changes in the coloring pattern on a dog as it grew?

I wondered if my dog had trouble seeing and hearing when we brought him home at 7 or 8 weeks. He doesn't, but he does have trouble listening sometimes.

In Missouri, they are perfectly legal but I think the magazine needs to hold 10 rounds or less. With the bullets available, a .223 is plenty for hogs and whitetails. Shots here in the midwest are so different they are hard to compare to shots out west. Here the complications revolve around shot angle out of the tree stand, tree limbs and brush in the way, etc., so short distance shots are the norm. Franchi's can be pretty nice, but I can't shoot one worth a darn.

Berettas are great guns. My father-in-law has a 28 ga. O/U that is just about the perfect gun for a long day of walking in the fields.

I haven't shot this gun specifically, but I've never had a single problem with the Berettas I've shot. I don't think their semiautos look great, but they're comfortable and they don't quit.
