??CURRENT SOUTH DAKOTA CONDITIONS??
I was just wondering if anyone has been in South Dakota chasing pheasants lately? We are heading back Thanksgiving morning to hunt for 4 days, and was just curious how much snow is on the ground, and also wondering if they got most all of the corn off before the snow came? Thanks for any feedback!!

Has anyone shot or handled the new Benelli Ethos yet? Just curious what your opinions were.

Re: ??EP as grouse and woodcock dogs??
Thank you SHORTFAT. He is a heavily bred Elhew dog whos breeder hunts their Pointers in the exact kind of cover that I hunt. He seems to have amazing blood lines and from what the breeder is telling me (seems to be a very honest guy that REALLy knows his Pointers and the Elhew blood lines) this shou...

Re: ??EP as grouse and woodcock dogs??
Thank you everyone for your input. I continued to read this daily as well as search for even more information on the internet. I found a breeder who was very helpful and full of information, and I mailed my check for the down payment today. I never meant to start an argument about which breed is bes...

Re: ??EP as grouse and woodcock dogs??
Thank you everyone for your input. And thank you UP-HUNTER for the breeder. I actually got in contact with them yesterday, and will be following up even more with them.

??EP as grouse and woodcock dogs??
This is probably a dumb question, but I figured I would run it past you guys on here and see what kind of experiences you might have had. I am currently hunting a GSP for grouse and woodcock in the northwoods of Wisconsin. I am very impressed by the looks and style of English Pointers. I am just cur...
Re: MN Opener
Sounds like an awesome weekend. Although a female's screams can be disheartening, I'm thinking should might have more success on pheasants with the ultra-light! Wishing you both continued success in and out of the field.

Re: over and under chokes
Being in Minnesotta, I assume you are refering to hunting ruffed grouse. If that is the case, I would definitely shoot Improved Cylinder and Modified. I shoot I/C in my top barrel (first shot) and Modified in my bottom barrel. I don't know if it is better to shoot top or bottom barrel first? I just ...

Re: Great Lakes Grousin~
I only made it out on opening day for a couple hours this year, and things did not look so good for me so far, but things are VERY dry compared to how they were the last several years, so it's going to take some time to locate some areas that are a little wetter. I have been reading some reports (an...

FRANCHI AFFINITY
Has anyone purchased or had a chance to shoot the new Franchi Affinity yet? I am looking at getting a Franchi Affinity in 20ga as a backup (and early season gun) for my Citori. I finally got to shoulder the gun today, and I like the way it fits. There are some things that I like better about the M2,...

Re: What Breed Did You Start With
I started with a yellow lab. I always wanted my GSP (which I own a 2 year old now), but my lab was a special dog in and out of the woods, and on and off of the water! I love the magestic look of English Pointers, but hunting the swamp edges and popple thickets of northern Wisconsin for grouse and wo...

Re: howdy
Welcome. I had a yellow before my GSP. The best dog I have ever owned (or known for that matter). Labs are awesome companions and great in the field as well. Enjoy your pup, and good luck with the training!!
Re: 16 Days!
I know how you feel. I have had had NOTHING but our opener on my mind for the last 3 weeks. Our ruffed season opens in 23 days, and it can't get here fast enough for me. Early season hunting around here is always tough with all of the leaves on the trees and the brush still standing, but it's still ...

WISCONSIN NEWBEE
I live in central Wisconsin and have a GSP who just turned 2. I hunted him on grouse and woodcock last year and was VERY happy with how he hunted for a one year old. I am very much looking forward to this season, and have been checking out your forums looking for other upland opportunities in nearby...
