Re: Alternative to Force Fetch and Clicker training?
4 years ago I met up with a wonderfull woman who had 3 Brit show dogs. 3 years ago, we got curious about their hunting abilities. I have hunted grouse in Michigan for 45 years, but never over a dog. As a fact, when I was younger...I WAS the dog! Without any knowledge on training hunting dogs, I took...

Re: Tips for Hunt Tests
The absouletly BEST thing I did was buy a book called "QUAILIFY". It is out of print, but it gives a complete description of the process, as well as tips on how to handle the dog under different circumstances. I recently also attended a JUDGES Seminar, put on by the AKC. That was an opportunity to t...

At the Master level, which he is ready for in all other aspects, he must Honor without command. THATS what Im having trouble with...

Re: Failure to Honor
He is very solid on his stop-to-flush. I started training him with sihlouettes, and releasing a bird. He actually will usually honor a "fake" dog!! When I work him with a live dog, he "sees" the dog on point, hesitates..then continues hunting. I have recently set up a scenario where the dog on point...

Failure to Honor
My GFs 6 yr old Brit is doing great since I started working with him and a trainer 18 months ago. He has earned all 4 legs of his Senior title, but thats as far as I seem to be able to get him. He blinks honoring situations. He doesnt steal points; just continues to hunt. I've tried everything I hav...
