Re: Beagle advice needed

There are lots of nice kennels in Canada. Brankos included. I would personally do a search for Cryon Beagles. The Steeves are as nice and honest as they come and their dogs are second to none. They don't sell females(typically) but they can put you in contact with someone who does.

Re: Anyone field trial beagles or have experience?

I would think in Indiana most of the AKC trials would be Midwest which are ran in the SPO format. That being said you would most likely be allowed on foot to observe the pack as long as you stay with the handlers at the direction of the Marshall(s). A lot of large pack trials you stay outside of the...

Re: Anyone field trial beagles or have experience?

It depends on the format, the club and even sometimes conditions/weather. What format is he interested in?

Nebraska for fall bird and rabbit hunt?

I am looking for a destination for a fall bird and rabbit hunting vacation. Does Nebraska fit the bill? If so what part of the state should I concentrate on? Is there a better state that warrants consideration? I am not overly interested in pheasant hunting. I prefer to try and pursue prairie chicke...

Dog box: 2-hole vs. 3-hole & compartment size?

The dogs in my kennel consist of Beagles, GWP & GSP. I am in the process of ordering a new dog box. I plan on using this box in the back of my truck and also on my 5' x 8' trailer so I can pull it behind my car. Should I go with a two stall or three stall box? What dimensions do you feel are adequat...

Porcupine Avoidance

Do some dogs never figure out porcupines? I have a dog that will be four years old in November and he has gotten tangled up with a porcupine four times in the last year (twice last spring, twice this spring) and five or six times in his life. Can you set them up on porcupines as you would a beagle o...

Can/should prisoner breeding Homers be taught to recall?

I am in the process of buying 10 pair of breeding racing homers that have always been prisoners. Can I teach these to recall? Should I? Am I better off keeping them as prisoner breeding stock and training with their offspring?

I guess I should have mentioned this in my original post. I am not interested in racing. I only intend to use it for training. Thanks!

Another Pigeon Loft Question

I have a 8' wide x 10' long gambrel style garden shed with about 4' knee walls that I want to convert/divide into two pigeon lofts. I have a couple of questions. 1) Should I divide it front to back and have (2) 4' wide x 10' long lofts or should I divide it side to side and have (2) 8' wide by 5' lo...

eosinophilic myositis

My three year old GWP was just diagnosed today with eosinophilic myositis. Anyone have any experience with this? I am having a hard time finding current information on it. Is the likelihood of him pulling through decent or are the odds against me? What should I expect/prepare myself for? Thanks for ...
