The latest is always the favorite. The bottom gun is a Rizzini BR550 .410 with 30" barrels and custom ordered best grade wood. That's my latest from just before covid. I usually carry a 40 S&W chambered Sig P239 compact when hunting on the border in southeast AZ. I usually hunt quail with a 410, so the shotgun isn't much defense beyond maybe 5-10 yards. The border area I hunt can have the occassional drug mules and such.

Just having a linkable watch will only allow the other hunter to see collar information if he is within the bluetooth range of the Pro 550 Plus. He can't be very far away. One thing you'll note when you look at Bismuth shot is that it's all irregular in shape and size. This could be the reason your shot failed. Put it on the pattern board. You'll want to shoot a bit tighter choke than with lead just to make up for holes in the pattern.

There's no doubt your bag can increase with a larger bore...due to a larger pattern. The size of a killing pattern wll be larger on a larger bore with an increased charge weight. More room for error. While there are unlimited choices, maybe the cheapest way to go would be to buy a synthetic stock set for one of your 870s for the immediate need. In the long run, you may want a gas gun like some of the Berettas, since they shoot soft and handle a wide variety of loads.

By limiting your choice of guns to 12 ga, 3" chamber, American made and under $1000, you have virtually named the gun. It'll be overkill and overweight for upland hunting, more at home in a duck blind. My advice is to pick a waterfowl gun separately from your upland gun. A nice upland gun will be 6 ...

Your vision of "mastering" dove shooting is honorable. But a hunter using a 12 ga on dove won't make the "master" list in many circles, certainly none that I've been around. Still, I recognize that small gauge guns aren't for everyone. Just the same, a 12 ga is a cannon on dove and quail.
