And Josie get's into the woodcock season with her first birds on her first hunt. So, let's go try out all these trained abilities and skills and see how we do in the "real" world. Best "ribbons" in the world are a brace of woodcock over a battle scarred spaniel. Nicely done! Nicely done indeed! WTG...

The Missouri Woodcock season opened today. I took the opportunity to go for a walk and stretch my legs. We usually don't have many woodcock here this early but I needed to walk the dog anyway. First flush I couldn't see the bird due to the foliage. I thought I knew where the bird would have landed....

I am not even sure how you can develop a bird finder without hunting the crap out of them. Dogs that find birds is an instinctual trait. They are born that way.
