Re: sport dog gps system

I have the TEK and have had to return it twice in just over one season of hunting, about 160 hrs of use. The first time they sent me a brand new unit and the second time they sent me a new receiver. Their customer service is great but I don't trust the unit anymore so it sits on the shelve and I wen...

Re: Training DVDS?

I use the huntsmith and Evan Graham DVD's for training. I picked those after checking out some of the other DVD's mentioned already. They were the methods that I liked the best. I would suggest getting DVD's from different sources and seeing what method you like and then stick with it. You can alway...

Re: Responsible Firearms ownership

Remember the old saying of locks keep honest people honest. If a crook wants a gun they will get a gun no matter if we lock them up or not. The locks do help in accidental shootings but will have no effect on the murder rate. Also people that commit mass shootings plan them out over a long period of...

Re: Responsible Firearms ownership

The firearms in question are not military weapons. The solution to fascination is not making things more difficult to get but education. +1 We obviously need a back ground check overhaul as well. We have the system in place and we do a background check on all gun buyers of both pistols and long gun...

Re: Responsible Firearms ownership

Maybe we should teach gun safety more broadly. All 5 of the accidental shootings in the story below probably could have been avoided if the people would have practiced the most basic rules of firearm safety; TAB-K. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/01/19/accidental-shooting-gun-show/18...

Re: Responsible Firearms ownership

How many of you think that a Hunters Safety certificate or an educational gun course should be required to buy a firearm? On Thursday Garrison and I headed to the local training ground to run some dogs. He got there a half hour before I did and had a story for me when I arrived. When he got there s...

Re: Responsible Firearms ownership

I teach gun safety and don't see how gun safety courses or any gun course for that matter will stop the people who want to kill someone. We teach gun safety to help stop accidents not murders. Also I don't see how law abiding citizens giving up their guns will stop anything. If we all gave up our gu...

Re: Grouse hunters, are tracking collars worth it?

I use the Sportdog Tek and a beeper collar and really like it for grouse. I used to use a bell and a beeper collar with the collar set for point only but I had the bell plug with snow to many times or had the dogs working out to far to hear the bell so I switched to the Tek. I really like being able...

remote camera to monitor kennels

I am looking for a wireless camera setup so we can monitor our outdoor kennels when we are away for a few days at a time. We have two 5ft by 10 ft kennels that are in a fenced in back yard. Does anybody have any suggestions on what wireless cameras I should be looking at?

Re: Question on stakeout chain

I put an eye bolt in our floor right where the trim meets the flooring and use a short chain. It works great as a stakeout chain when its raining out or in the winter before I do any training. We also use it when we have company over or just want the pup to stay in her place. It took a while for my ...
