Well I would expect that you have seen top AA GSP's and or Britts compete, and the top AA pointers and setters compete. Or atleast have some sort of fact to back yourself up. While loss of habitat is still the major cause of sage grouse decline, studies of nest predation of these birds have shown that ravens are one of the big culprits. Here is my two cents. Habitat has a great deal to do with loss in bird numbers, spring rains right when the birds hatch has a tremendous effect on survival of chicks. This is in negative way. The backstraps are a New York Strip steak. They are called New York Strip because the tenderloin has been "stripped" to use as filet mignon. The difference between a Porterhouse and a T-Bone steak is the size of the tenderloin left attached. When the tenderloin runs out towards the head end you hav...

Re: Retrieving Stakes in Pointing Dog Trials
I would disagree with that opinion. Handling a dog takes more cooperation than retrieving. During a trial the course isn't a straight line and in some cases the turns are quite dramatic. If the dog is 200 yards out front in heavy cover and the course takes a 90 degree turn you'll need plenty of coo...

Backstraps....Cut 1 1/2 thick pieces accross the grain and wrap the perimeter with Bacon hold it on with toothpicks. It is basically a filet mignon. If the argument is that the dogs are capable and we should showcase that behavior then the argument is also without merit because picking up a dead bird at 25 yards and returning with it showcases nothing - that is what serious retriever prospects are doing at 3 months of age. I tenderize my non-tenderloin steaks with a meat tenderizer, pat them in flower, and fry them like liver in onions and portabellas. A little Lawrys, Garlic, and Slap Yo Momma cajun seasoning. Pretty good that way. Again though, as evrybody else stated, don't overcook so it doesn't get to dry.
