Re: dog for upland bowhunting
I never trained her to retrieve my arrows. just something she picked up. When ever I would miss and lose a arrow I would tell her { FIND IT] and when she did I would praise her. Now when I practice she will sit in front of me watching. And when the arrow flies she runs down to the target and makes s...

Re: dog for upland bowhunting
I have a English pointer {female} that I hunt birds and rabbits with. I also hunt with a bow and she is great at retrieving my arrows. As far as a house dog she is excellent inside but she does shed a bit. I thought being a short haired dog that she wouldn't shed as much as she does. Buts its nothin...

Again you have missed the point of the question. The point being HEALTHIER. Yes she is doing good on the other. I could survive on beer and chips. But are they the healthiest choices. NO. Anyways thank you to everyone else for their input.

I said it seems healthier. If u had read it before giving a smart "bleep" answer ezzy. My dog will eat anything ( even rabbit "bleep" ) but I'm sure there is something better.

What's everyone's thoughts on BLUE BUFFALO dog food. I currently feed PURINA PRO PLAN with good results. The BLUE BUFFALO just seems healthier from what I've read.

My pointer loves a good rabbit or coyote turd, but never her own. Just hoping she grows out of it.

Pups growth seems to have stalled
Well guys and girls she may end up being petite. Like I have mentioned before she is a GSP mix( mother GSP) who knows what the daddy is. Just about 5 1/2 months and right at 30 lbs. She had a nice growth spurt a couple months ago but has since slowed. Her drive to hunt is incredible and we will cont...

Re: Coyotes and Dogs
That's why I hunt them every chance I get. They don't have to be sick to charge you or your dog. They slip into our neighborhoods at night looking for easy meals ( cats& dogs). And I'm talking deep in town several miles from the desert.

Re: Coyotes and Dogs
We have been having a lot of coyote attacks on pets here in reno nv. I even chased one around my neighborhood for about 20 min. I have seen more yotes in town than out in the hills. And I have warned all my neighbors to becareful while walking their dogs.

Worming schedule
My pup goes back to the vet next week to get put on a regular heart worm monthly schedule. But it got me wondering about other worm problems. I haven't seen anything in her stool. And I have no reason to believe she has worms. She was wormed before I got her. But should I be giving her something els...

Hi everyone. Need some help or trix from you guys. My pup is now 5 months and smart as heck. But I'm having trouble getting her to come to the truck when it's time to go home. ( I don't blame her I would stay out in the hills too) but when mama calls we gotta go. She will COME Everytime at home in t...

Kennel types
Just wondering what type of kennel people prefer for in the house. Right now my pup sleeps in a pet carrier style kennel. But she needs a bigger one and I have been looking at the wire style kennels. What do u guys think? Open style wire or the carrier type.

Re: Puppy has upset stomach
She's 17 weeks old and eats and chews everything. All shots current and has been wormed. Plus I always check for worms in the stool. Her schedule is a little off because I've been on nights. So her eating and excercise isn't always at the same time. Also because she's not eating at the same time alw...

Puppy has upset stomach
My pup has had diarrhea for the last 2 days. She's eating and drinking fine. And seems to feel ok other than having some runny poop. Any home remedies or ideas? I haven't changed anything ( food-excercise ext. ) not sure what's going on with her.

What age should I start training
Just wondering what's a good age to start really getting serious. The pup just turned 16 weeks. She has a good bird sense about her and I have used a wing and scents off and on. But mostly been working on commands and house breaking. I run her out in the hills and her confidence is good and really s...

I didn't realize having a mowed lawn with a few flowers was a fancy yard. I do have a dog run for her I just thought maybe she didn't have to be locked up all the time. I guess for now ill just have to keep an eye on her.

Puppy destroying my yard
Like it says my beautiful yard is getting destroyed. Now I expected to lose some flowers and a few dead grass spots. But she is digging holes like a "bleep" gopher. She is never unsupervised for more than 20 mins out back. But that's all it takes to dig a grave. I run her in the hills everyday and m...

GSP mix slow growth
Well as I have said before my GSP mix (rescue pup) seems to be small. We're not sure what she is mixed with ( mother is GSP). She is just about 14 weeks and about 14 lbs. So what do you guys think? How big we're your pups at that age.

My 13 week old pup isn't eating much either. Just picks at it off and on all day. And just like yours she will eat treats all day if I let her. Have tried different flavored foods but the same brand. Had her at the vet the other day and everything checked out fine. Hope you get it figured out

I noticed it earlier while she was playing. And my wife just call concerned about it. She runs around on it just fine ( she's a maniac) but then sometimes I catch her pimp walking. Didn't see anything in her toes. Hope her hips are ok.

Hey thank you guys that helped calm me. The reason I asked was she
Is mixed with what I don't know maybe a border collie. But only really see
It in her face, not as blocked as she should be I think. Anyways maybe she will hunt
I hope. Shows interest in birds. If not I'm sure she will be a good friend.

Puppy size
Hi
New guy here.
Just got a 9 week old GSP and I was wondering how big she should be
On average. She seems small to me, hoping I didn't get a midget.
