Re: Dog nose is broken when it snows!
Thanks everyone! She has had success in cat tails but literally avoids em like the plague regardless. I get in w her and she goes out, even if getting birds. In the fields she is a machine. However, with snow and cold she blows the field up as well. Busts Huns and is a real dipshit. I agree about he...

Dog nose is broken when it snows!
Hey Gang, Lucy is an amazing dog when there is NO snow and it is not real cold. However, as soon as the birds go in thick cover (cat tails), she avoids it. I call her a cover snob. With that, she also bumps birds in open cover and generally seems to not care when the snow flies or it is too cold. Ju...

Re: Wondering if Bar Lee Setters is real/fraudulent?
Lucy is out of Ace and Remi.
She will retrieve just fine and also is a bugger when backing.
She will range out like Gertie but usually is 200 or so and takes hand signals very very well. Also always checks in!
Best family dog ever!!!!

Re: Wondering if Bar Lee Setters is real/fraudulent?
Hi there,
My girl Lucy is from Bar Lee and Larry is a stand up guy. Lucy just turned 4. Which reminds me it is about time to get on the list for another:)
I believe Gertie on here also has a BarLee setter.
Cheers
Mike

Hi Gertie,
There are at least two of those pups that look my little Lucy:) Brings back memories. Are you gonna breed your girl again in the next 3 years?

Dog eats almost nothing
Hi Gang, I have an almost 3 year old setter that will go weeks with eating less than a cup per day. And i run her a lot, both field and off bike, etc. For example, we spent the weekend out hunting and running in the mtns of Idaho and in the past 4 days she literally has eaten 3 cups of food. Lotsa w...

grouse in Idaho
Hi Gang, Lucy has never been on grouse before but was going to take her out this year. She is a 3 year old setter that has hunted for 2 seasons on all other upland birds. Any pointers for her first few outings? I have locations down where we are headed, just unsure of these birds as I've only read a...

Re: Dog pooping in the house?
Hi gang, There is a lot of valuable info on here and different points of view. Personally I am going to have a mtg w her and the big fella when it happens again and then move on with life as normal. As for an outdoor kennel, the missus is about to do that. Although she is a family dog 320 days a yea...

Re: Dog pooping in the house?
I hate to be an "bleep", if this question makes me that. But what I have in mind with tough love is grab her, demonstrate w nose to pile and words that it is not ok, and physically persuade her to not do that again. Being a setter, she holds grudges and is quite the baby. Once the love is administer...

Re: Dog pooping in the house?
Thanks. She does do it when I am not watching her like a hawk. There isn't a health issue as I investigated that route first! She spends most of the time in the kennel when I'm not home. At night she is in the kennel. She will literally come in, lay on her bed at the command of bed, I will go into t...

Dog pooping in the house?
Hi There, Lucy is a great girl and we run every morning and evening. And when I say run we either literally run or field train, etc.. She has recently (just this past 3 months) decided that using the house as her poop station is the right thing to do. She definitely poops when we are out, at least t...

Re: keg creek cooper breed to hanshaws out on bail
The percentages given for normal, carrier, and affected are correct biologically speaking. It does not matter if son y was a carrier, that does not change the per engages for this breeding. Gregor Mendel demonstrated this in the mid 1800's.
I hope this litter turns out top notch!

Re: llewellin setter pup
I have a ES out of Bar Lee setters in Bend, Or. His line is a Tekoa line. I can not be happier with little Lucy. About 28 lbs and quite the personality. Larry is a top notch guy. Sorry this is my first post but had to register and say how happy I am with Lucy and my whole relationship w the breeder....
