Re: new gun

I highly doubt you would ever regret seeking out a Parker Reproduction in the ga and configuration of your choice. I have a list made of gun's I'm interested in and a Parker is on top of that list. If the Webley Scott was still around I'd probably crash and get it but it's about double the Parker. ...

Re: Is my GSP hunting too fast?

Pointing dogs are the bomb, IMO. They do so many neat things, if you let them. Enjoy. RayG x10,000 Here's a quick video of a pointer slamming point. That is precisely what I watched a Shorthair do, all day long, the very first time I saw a German Shorthaired Pointer in my life. We bought a pup that...

Re: Is my GSP hunting too fast?

The mere fact your dog will slow it down on your command in the field speaks volumes. Your dog likes you and is showing behavior in the field that clearly shows she wants to please you. Now it's your turn to loosen up the reins a little and begin to trust your dog. Over time you'll find that you can...

You know I can honestly say I have never felt a gun kick when shooting at a bird, never. A lot of people say that, and they are often correct in their own mind...But they still flinch. Get a GPS. Today. x2 Another nice feature of the Garmin Alpha in particular is the tone feature which can be overlaid as a recall once the dog has become reliable in response to a verbal command. Tough subject.

In my view, if you're asking such a personal question on the interweb, there's a problem - seriously.

Your dog will let you know when it's time. If it's not easily recognized..that's a problem.

Nothing ill-intended, at all.

The point of my post is to keep it light, don't overthink, don't get ridiculous and, don't ignore pragmatic advice by getting snarky with someone trying to help you.

If that message isn't clear, I don't know what to say except, good luck with your dog.

Agree with Ezzy, no rifles. You're logic, while well intended, is flawed. You're overthinking it. Use any gauge you desire - just don't throw the dog in the deep end by shooting right over him/her. Common sense and an inconspicuous eye on the dog goes a long way. Edited to add: I would recommend a 2...
