Re: in desperate need of advise LOL
Find a bird dog trainer that can show you hands on training. Not only does the dog need training so does the handler. That was my case. misty pine in wexford would be a good start. Ask for Jeff

Re: launcher question
I have the LCS launcher and I ran it over with my quad. Bent the heck out of it. I straightened it out the best I could and it still works. Just make sure you have good batteries in it and the remote. Im definately going to get more from LCS

Re: Skid Plate Suggestions
After 20 stitches from a rusty barred wire fence I bought a skid plate from lion country. Doesnt bother my dog at all just get the right size. I'd rather be hunting than sitting at the vets.

Re: Let's talk Viszla
My vizsla is a great hunter. He is 2 years old and very intelligent. Great retriver and pointer. He ranges from 100ft to 300ft. Ranges further in fields than thickets. You would get a good 5-6hrs hunting in ideal weather. The most similiar breed would have to be the GSP. Shedding is light to mild. A...

Re: New to upland hunting, but loving it!
MY VIZSLA WEARS A VEST FOR PROTECTION AND VISABLITIY. HE DONT MIND IT, BUT HIS ARM PITS GET RED AND IRRATATED. THATS BETTER THAN THE BARBWIRE THAT GAVE HIM 4 STICHES. IT SAYS IT WATERPROOF BUT IT ISNT. HE STILL SHIVERS BELOW 40 DEGREES BUT IT DOESNT AFFECT HIS HUNTING. Thanks. Do you know the name/...

All porcupines must die.
Porcupine ruined a great day to hunt 40degrees, no rain or snow, 8 flushes by 10:00am. Then I had to leave. My dog got a face full of quills. I found a great vet and had them out in 45min. I wanted to go back but my dog was put to sleep and after, he could barely walk out the vet's door. All porcupi...

Re: Garmin Alpha?
My alpha has its good and bads. The bad are 1. - You have to calibrate the compass alot. Every 5-20 min. Shows your dog opposite of where he really is, and has you going in the opposite direction. Its easy to figure that it needs calibrated because the north arrow point doesnt move as you move it. ...

Re: Releasing a dog to flush
Its a good problem to have for sure but I understand your situation. I usually hunt by myself so I also found the need to teach her to flush. I have basically trained my GSP to do what you are asking and the release command is what you are wanting to put into place. (I use get the birds) She'll hol...

Releasing a dog to flush
1 1/2 yr old Vizsla. Holds point and steady to shot 99% of the time. Usually points from a good distance 20-30ft on average. Sometimes I think the birds are moving away from us and I cant get my dog to release. Even when I walk in front of him 30ft or so he dont move until the bird flushes. If there...

Re: Words of Wisdom
I hunted with a some friends and one friend of mine who has a Gsp that does not hold point. He breaks faster than a union worker at 10:00. The rest of the day everyones dogs broke on every bird. My advise, if you hunt with someone whos dog isnt trained. leave, or leave your dog in the truck.

Filson tin pants. I have used them for six years. Still water proof and never had anything penetrate them. Worth the money. Alittle stiff but they relax as they get used.
