Re: Puppy biting?
When I brought home my lab pup I thought I had brought home a baby alligator. It took weeks of constant reinforcement before that changed, but now I have a 10 month old pup with a soft mouth and no nipping. There are tons of resources and suggestions to help you through this period, but it is also i...

Bark Collars and Labrador Guard Dogs
Hopefully the subject get's this post some views. Does anyone have general thoughts or philosophy on bark collars? I have read information both ways, and I am interested to hear what others think. My 10 month old lab will often bark when he knows I am around but he is kenneled. This is something I w...

The only thing that I mixed up is that you can only convert from a larger caliber to a smaller one. Changing the barrel and magazine will absolutely work to change calibers on a Glock, and there are countless videos online to prove my point.

Re: MN Revisiting Conibear Regulations
It's an interesting issue. I do some trapping, but I can't imagine getting my dog stuck in a trap, much less a conibear. It's hard to think of a way to solve this problem without taking away trapping. In the mean time, I think everyone should carry a setting tool when they are hunting public land wi...

obummer is going to be making an annoucement this hour as to his "comprehensive" gun control plan. I will post the press release as soon as it becomes available. The most disgusting part is he is willing to make many of the new changes by executive order without congressional approval.

Re: Have you seen the new proposal for an "assult weapons" ban?!
Do you really believe if you have a gun or two you could defend yourself against a Government that wants your guns. I know there are people on here who think they could. Cj If you don't believe that well armed citizens can defend against a government tyranny then you didn't read the story of Americ...

Re: Have you seen the new proposal for an "assult weapons" ban?!
I have seen a lot of this information elsewhere, but it is great to see it all compiled so neatly. History repeats itself, and too many people fail to learn (or learn from) history. Thank you for posting this, I will likely use it as reference in the future. Since I posted the original story, the gu...

Re: Buying first pistol
One cool thing about Glock (and probably some other modern handguns) is that they are modular. In other words, you can buy a G21 (full size .45) and the slide and magazine for G17 (full size 9mm), and you are able to quickly and easily switch between rounds. That way you can have your .45 for huntin...

Re: Buying first pistol
It shouldn't matter if your shooting right or left handed the brass should never hit you if the face, ever, if that happens its a design flaw in the gun not a right/left hand problem. I shoot a H&K USP its safety is designed to be switched for a left handed shooter, the mag release is ambidextrous.[...

Re: Buying first pistol
I have a variety of handguns, but my Glock 23 is my favorite all around sidearm. Not bad for concealment, but it holds 13+1 .40 S&W so it is effective for self defense. Due to the compact size, it's not particularly accurate, but it will definitely hit it's target in a close quarter self defense sit...

Thanks for the suggestions. Rush is enjoying his GOghnut as well as his black kong. I will start introducing antlers in a month or so when he's done teething.
Here are a couple pictures of him with the Goghnut if anyone is interested.

Re: Where is the best city to live for bird hunting, hands down?
Duluth, Minnesota is a nice metropolis with lots of grouse and tons of fishing and game just outside the city. Not the best for birds, but it gives you a great overal hunting experience and a bigger than average metropolis. Osakis/Alexandria, Minnesota has excellent duck and goose action, decent phe...

Re: Pup wont stop eating rocks!!!
I have a lab that is 5.5 months now, during months 3-4 he tried to eat every rock in site. It was a big pain for me having to constantly take rocks out of his mouth while running around yard, going for walks, playing in (gravel) driveway, etc. With every rock he picked up, I told him no and took it...

Looks like people have the supplies covered. For me, a harness and check cord are my most useful training supplies. I suggest a subscription to Gun Dog Magazine as well. Chewing options for a 4 month old lab
Just curious what you guys use as chews for your pups. My lab is an very powerful chewer, so most edibles are not an option, and I don't use rawhide. I have a non-edible nylabone that he isn't very interested in. What is working best are cow tendons, but he goes through 1-2 a week at about $8 each. ...

I freeze the birds that I use for training. That way they still get the smell, but it is more difficult for them to rip up the birds and easier for you to do a relase command.

When my setter was little I thought I had brought home a snapping turtle with fur. Nothing worked, rolling lip, pinning, yelping, pop under jaw, pinch ear, claw hand on neck, nothing worked until a friend who breeds labs told me half water/half listerine in a squirt bottle. It was amazing. It only ...

Obviously I underestimated the audience (I am new to this forum). I have certainly been r...

Puppy Biting - PLEASE HELP
I am having a problem with my yellow lab pup biting at people (including myself) regularly. The most disturbing part of it is when he is disciplined (typically by grabbing the scruff of his neck or his mouth and loudly saying 'no!') he gets even more aggressive with his biting, and often growls. I h...
