Re: Moving to Twin Cities
There are a few off leash dog parks around. You just have to look. I use the High Bridge in Saint Paul and Minnehaha in Minneapolis. I don't think either one is more then 10-15 minutes from Eagan depending. But maybe you can find something closer. I wouldn't leave the dog out during the day. I don't...

Re: Puppy training questions
You could do all positive clicker training at that age. Just make sure that the sessions are short and the dog has fun. I taught my Llewellin Lily how to fetch when she wasn't much older than that in an afternoon with a clicker. Teaching basic obedience with a clicker is fun at that age. But don't d...

Re: Alpha, Astro, dc40, dc50, TT pro EXP's Radio Reception
The yagi antennas are built to match freqs and they usually go in increments of 5. 150.000 to 154.999 for example. If your old yagis are in the MURS range then they will give a big leap in range, but only from the collar to the receiver. There might be a small jump in going back to the collar but it...

Re: Alpha, Astro, dc40, dc50, TT pro EXP's Radio Reception
If you mean MURS, then the freqs will be the exact same. MURS is the FCC definition for those 5 freqs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MURS Since those transmitters are coded, even though another receiver can listen to those same freqs, it won't be able to decode the signal. You would be better off get...

Re: Alpha, Astro, dc40, dc50, TT pro EXP's Radio Reception
Can you find the Alpha's Freqs anywhere?? I can only find the Astro's... They are 151.820 MHz, 151.880 MHz, 151.940 MHz, 154.570 MHz, and 154.600 MHz. Those are good mid-low range freqs and I would doubt that they would stray really far from that. A lot higher would give you longer range but sacrifi...

Re: New Wiemaraner Pup
How often should I be getting my pup to the WMA's? As often as the law and your time allows. There's no such thing as putting your dog on to many birds. Check with your local game warden though, I'm not sure what the laws of VA are but here in MN there are certain times of the year where can't put ...

Re: Is my dog strange if...
Shouldn't give them bacon anyway. Waaaaaay too much salt for a dog to handle. . I'm a paleo guy... I smoke my own. Mine has a fraction of the salt of store bought. I'm just glad you didn't ask if your dog was strange if it farts... Of course she farts... We have contests. I just remark on her not l...

She doesn't like bacon?? Seems like there's something unnatural about that. Or should I just be happy that there's more for me?

Re: MN Revisiting Conibear Regulations
Sorry but I would be OK with getting rid of trapping altogether. I've found to many traps where they ought not to be on private land. With traps you can't even call to complain with the sherif as he'll just look at the traps and say, "Yup... That's a trap and it shouldn't be there."

Minnesota Setters
Does anyone have experience with dogs from: High Fly’n Kennels in Elko, MN; Houdini Llewellin Setters in Lonsdale, MN; or Red Setters from Berg Brothers in Clearwater, MN? I hunt mainly ruffed grouse and woodcock in Northern Minnesota, so I’m looking for a close working dog, comfortable in thick bru...

Hello from Minnesota
Hello, So I've unexpectedly found myself looking for a new dog. My nine year old Llewellin was diagnosed with cancer and seven weeks later I was putting her down. Searching through all the online gun dog sites I ran across this and figured I should join as I haven't had to train a dog from scratch f...
