Re: ammo carry amount??
No rules like that in Ohio. I don't carry much when hunting phez, rabbit or even quail, but I will carry boxes for dove. Limit is 15 a day and I throw out a lot of lead for those little birds.

Re: Spin off the collar thread- Microchipping
Yes, my brittany is chipped. I have too much time invested in him to take the chance not to. I also have "reward" written on his dog tag...just in case.

Re: I was told NO
I feel your pain. I had a negative run in with a brittany rescue group. Way over the top. I can work, raise a family but they don't want us to raise a dog the way we know how to? As others have said, no wonder some of the rescue agencies have trouble placing dogs.

Re: invisible yard fence and e collar
I had an invisible fence along with an e collar for my brittany and found that I didn't need the fence. When we leave the house the dog has his e collar on and I don't let him out without me so it seemed redundant to have both systems. I ended up giving it to my neighbor.

Re: My Brittany Pup
You have gotten plenty of good advice from others already. I have a 1 year old Brittany and found with him lots of verbal praise works great. I wouldn't call him "soft" but I have a buddy who can't raise his voice/swear around his Brittany without upsetting the dog and having him sulk. Still a great...

Re: Wives and Minivans
My wife never wanted to own a mini-van. We tried a few options before it(Subaru forrester for one) but with three young daughters, lots of traveling, dogs, etc it seems to work for our family. I kept my truck and have a 4dr for traveling around town and work. Only problem is all the dents in it from...

Re: How long do you hunt?
Usually 1-4 hrs. Hard to limit in Ohio, but does depend on what I am hunting. Not many upland birds left around me, except for dove.

Re: They're not called Pointers, they're Shorthairs!!!!!
Not many Brittanys around where I live, and most follow up with that is a spaniel right? I explain the difference between a pointing dog and a flusher. My wife is sick of me explaining it, rolls her eyes and walks away. I say I am trying to educate people, and my wife thinks people who don't hunt do...

Re: Big Brittany?
I may be a little late to the discussion but my Brittany weighted in at 49 pounds yesterday at the vet. Overall, very healthy and the vet commented that he was obviously a working dog. For me, I simply hunt my dog, he has always been able to keep up with me and has not tired out even plowing through...

New from Ohio
Hello, my name is Josh and I live in eastern central Ohio. Have hunted for a bit but wife finally let me get a dog(after 17 years) and this fall got a Brittany male that I have been training for pheasant, etc. I have to say that I enjoy hunting with my dog much more than by myself. Training him myse...
