I ran the numbers on building "quality" kennels versus buying quality kennels. The materials alone were about equal before even figuring in my labor.

Re: order of e collar commands
I'm curious.... After you have trained commands, in what order do you introduce reinforcing those commands with the e collar? For instance, some use the e collar for a kennel command, come, and whoa in that order. Others begin with whoa. Others say it doesn't matter. Really what I'm wondering is wh...

Still can not bring up the video. Earned a leg on Tug 's MH this weekend . Diesel's litter mate. The link should work now! But yes, we have a busy fall ahead of us between trialing and heading to SD to chase birds.
The backing dog is coming along well and had a first and third derby placements last weekend at a field trial and is almost ready to move onto gun dog stakes.

Just a short video of our latest training session. Five month old pup on point with my other female backing her. The younger pup is getting ready for her first trial this weekend and the older pup is getting ready to enter broke stakes in the next month. https://video-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hvideo-xfa1...

Maybe I have been watching too much American big city news. :) It's funny how all of the big city with strict gun laws are the places where they have all the gun problems. Don't let the news fool you! With that said, I did recently switch to Bravecto but have only been using it for a couple of weeks.

Sounds realistic. If they have bands they are probably racing pigeons.
After loft flying them for a week or so I would take them out to 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, 1 mile.

Re: Tips for Handling Dog from Horseback
First thing, make a big effort to have him introduced to horses; put him on a lead and let him sniff a couple in the parking area. Secondly, use a well broke dog horse if you can, so you can concentrate on your pup and not have to work too jard to get the horse around. Then, ideally, you can do a l...

Absolutely. I did the JH level too. I learned plenty there talking to more experienced handlers too. Nice pup. has to desire and the willingness to point. If it were my pup, I'd skip JH and got to where you eventually want to be. If master is what you want, go right out after it. Take longer but in the meantime your training for master and not putting things on hold as a SH. SH can only teach thin...

Lost my dog in some heavy brush this week. He was 500 yards away in very dense brush. I don't think he could hear me or the whistle with the wind. Had about 15 minutes until darkness and had to rely on the T5 and 320. It made an easy chore of tracking him down. Without the unit I would had either of...

Yes I know a lot of handlers that did just that in puppy stakes. They don't want to run any more puppy or especially derby's than necessary to get the puppy and derby points and get out. Puppy stakes and particularly derby stakes can be good places to teach young dogs bad habits. You watch those gu...

I ran my first field trial today with my 6 month old in puppy stakes. I was very pleased with her performance, she worked her butt off for me the entire 15 minutes and covered good ground. 1. What did you do to dizzy the bird? 2. You really should get a remote launcher. This would solve the problem of her trapping the bird. 3. I've had some challenges with my pup chasing birds.
