I'll be living in CT temporarily and the house I'll be staying in doesn't have a fence, 1.5 acre yard. I've done a lot of research on the topic and would like to know some tried methods that worked. Thoughts on an E-Fence for a dog that has had E-Collar training?
Thank you,
Scott

Re: Virginia off season training?
Yea the no training on state land thing is tough. Even when I lived in CT we had a good number of public fields that you could train on.
I was hoping there was a kennel or preserve that might have a field I could use. And that they would provide me with birds.

I'll be picking up my pup from the trainer next week and once he's home I want to keep giving him birds until the preserves open up. Is there someplace near Leesburg that I can bring my pup to do some bird work? I don't have the ability to keep pigeons at home so a a place with birds is a must. Also...

Re: chasing anything flying in the yard help???
My dog watches airplanes, birds, butterflies and bees. He's crazy about anything that flies but it hasn't been a problem so far he'll learn what's the good kind of bird and what's the bad kind through training. Those metals ones taste pretty bad

Riley is with Bruce Shaffer at Almost Heaven GSPs. He's been there just over a week and looks really good so far. Here's a video of him on a bird http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8fBgOAq9Ko

Re: New Brittany Pup, advice needed
Be patient with your pup. You need to think of things from the dogs perspective. He's 10 weeks old and has the bladder control of an infant he wont be able to have full control over himself for a few moths. They're still babies until about a year old so just be patient with him and enjoy him as a pu...

Re: Sending my spoiled Brit to the trainer
I was originally thinking about sending him for longer. But the trainer said he wanted to take him for a month and if he needed more time to work with him we would do more time. He said he can do a lot in a month so we'll see.

Sending my spoiled Brit to the trainer
My Brit is just over 6 months old now and will be going to Almost Heaven GSPs on Saturday for a month of training. He's a house dog and has a very cushy life thanks to his parents. Just worried how he'll make the transition to being in a kennel and of course I'm worried about separation anxiety. He'...

In regard to your concerns about dogs being good in the house. Don't forget every dog is an individual and breed descriptions are generalizations. I would talk with breeders your interested in for more info.

I really like the perfect start perfect finish training program but I can't afford a launcher right now. Is it possible to apply the same concepts without a launcher. For example using wild birds or releasing pen raised ones without dizzying them.
