Re: Refinishing a stock
I have never refinished a shotgun stock but I have refinished a couple rifle stocks. I have had great luck using Tru Oil it was recommended to me by the gunsmith who built several guns for me His method cut a dowel to fit in the barrel channel securing it with a couple small wood screws Using the sp...

I currently own 2 Filsons 1 Cabelas and a Wingworks (yeah I know , who needs 4 vests right ?? ) I reach for the WW every time I hunt I use the Filson whenever I train and it serves as a back up when I hunt You note that WW has suspended sales ? Their webpage says nothing about suspended sales , just...

Re: Invisible Fence
We use one to keep our GSP and our Golden close by. The only issue we've had is when we replaced a collar we didn't coordinate it to the base unit figuring it would work as soon as we put the battery in. The golden figured it out and ended up at the neighbors. Our GSP stayed put. Otherwise we couldn...

Re: Strap Vest recommendation
I own both a WingWorks and a Filson. The WW is by far my favorite for all day hunting. I can pack more stuff in it. More ammo, water and there's plenty of places to tie off clothing as you strip during the day. It's a heavy duty vest made for heavy duty hunting. I don't think I'll ever wear this thi...

I've not tried the Q5 but I have owned a WW vest for 5 years now. I've had Filsons (and still use one for training), Cabelas and Quilomene I'll never own any other vest because I doubt I will wear the WW vest out. Its that well made. They are a little spendy but not much more than the Filson last ti...

Hey Iowa,
What are the dimensions of your coop and how many birds do you keep in it
It looks like it might be 4x8 ?
I've never kept pigeons but I've kept courtinix quail

WIngworks is the only way to go. Once you get it dialed in you don't notice any bulk.
Shells are right there, water too. Loading is just like any other strap vest, not too difficult
My Filson stays on the hangar ever since I bought my WW vest
My second choice would be the BirdNLite

I prefer the Filson Single Tin chaps as well. I have both the Single and Double tin chaps and I generally find the doubles are too warm for me. One little trick that was offered to me was to fashion yourself a 6' lead from 1/4" nylon rope. Make a loop in one end to slip over your wrist and leave the tag end free. When it comes to the tracking portion of the test run the tag end from the top of the collar and go underneath it or better yet r...

Absolutely, one should respect the animals they hunt or the fish they catch. Shouldn't matter if it's a mourning dove or a turkey, sage rat or 6 pt trophy bull, smallmouth bass or King Salmon. We need to do more to draw the younger folks into these traditions or soon there will be no traditions
Nicely done
