Re: Whistle?
On the flip side of that someone using the whistle too much is also pretty frustrating when you have to listen to someone yelling at their dogs all the time. I am just getting started with my own pointing dog and I only hope I am not that guy either way.

I will be doing my first NA test on my 6 month old pup in August does any one have any advice for dealing with the heat or just testing in general. I would agree class would be good for her in fact they would be great that is an idea I had not thought of. I will put that along the lines of when she wanted to learn to shoot a pistol I signed her up for classes. So that she could hear the similar ideas and methods in a different way.

Mine is not usually out of the kennel unless I am around for no other reason than no matter how much I tell her, my fiance does not give consistant commands. Re: Sling or no sling?
Generally I start out with the sling then I end up taking it off and put it in my vest. If I am duck, deer, coyote, or turkey hunting I u use the sling to get to my spot then take it off when I get there. So I guess I prefer to shoot with out it but it can be useful.

Absolutely why not it is not a guarantee and may not be probable but it is one more thing that increases the chances of getting the dog back. With the amount of money spent on dogs it is a drop in the bucket.

I have no idea if it is advisable to use on your dogs but gold bond is one of the best things ever invented for humans. If you are just using it for home defense and defense when you hunt with then I would go with a glock. They are a simple gun to shoot, you have the same trigger pull every time from first shot to last, they are virtually weather proof and require minimal maintenance. As far as caliber that will come...
