Re: Watching Westminster?
I an just as disappointed with the Labs you see in the show ring as any of you. That happened when practically everyone went to the Endlish type dogs that are extremely heavy bodied, short legged, and the thick heavy head. Get your hands on them and you will find they are quite solid similar to a b...

Re: Watching Westminster?
I watch it every year. I hate what's become to some of the breeds. Labs, Golden Retrievers, English Settters and others have split the breeds.
I applaud Chessies and GSP's and others that still have dual champions.

Looking for GSP info.
I'm looking at getting a GSP sometime this year. I hunt Grouse and Woodcock in northern Michigan. I currently run Labs in retriever hunt tests and I'm sure I will want to run the shorthair in pointing dog tests too. I keep my dogs in the house about 1/2 the time so the GSP would have to have an "off...

GSP's in my experience are a great beginner breed.
Quick to mature, smart, easy to train and hard to mess up.

Re: What tips for picking out a puppy do you have?
I find the best litter I can afford. Tell the breeder what I like in a dog, what I'm going to do with the dog. Then I go with the pup the breeder recommends. Any good kennel with have a pretty good idea of the drive and personality of the pups in the litter. Remember they see them 24/7. As long as y...

Hi Im laker...
Hi I'm laker. I live in Northern Michigan. I mostly hunt ducks and geese but also love upland birds. I started out hunting Grouse and Woodcock and I had GSP's and English Setters.A friend took me duck hunting about 20 years ago and I was hooked. I've had labs ever since. I've always loved to ...
