Keeping with 30/20 vs 26/16 foods no matter who's brand I'm trying to put weight on a 9 y.o. 16 lb. house dog. Is there any truth that 30/20 food can cause a dog to loose weight due to the higher protein. This dog has been free fed all her life as she only eats when she's hungry. She mostly sleeps d...

What kind of bone are you feeding? Rawhide? God I hope not.
If its a raw meat bone if could be to fatty for his system.
Stop the bones completely and see if he gets better.

I would get a second opinion from another vet. Get a skin scraping test done. I am also a huge believer that all dogs can use a top dressing food supplement for great skin and coat. MNTrout68,
When your dogs food alone is not working to keep weight on your dog I highly recommend add a digestive enzyme to each meal.
Products like Prozyme, K9 Power Digest Forte, Petenzymes.com Total-Zymes.
The difference is amazing depending on the dog. Do your research and give one a try.
