First North Dakota Hunt
I just got back last night from my first time in North Dakota hunting pheasants. I had an opportunity to hunt with a friend whose family owns some prime pheasant ground. The first day I had some trouble getting my safety off before shooting, I may have been a little too anxious. :D We also had some ...

Re: North Dakota Round 2
Good luck! I'm making the 13 hour drive from Indiana to Oakes, ND tomorrow. I'm pumped for my first Dakota Pheasant hunt. It looks like the weather is going to be great for mid-December.

Re: Help with potty training a 10 week old GSP, PLEASE!
You said you haven't scolded the pup for going inside. How is he supposed to know that's a wrong thing if you don't tell him? Right now he knows peeing outdoors is fine, and going indoors must be too since you don't seem to care. No need to go ballistic on him, but he needs to know peeing inside is...

Re: What would you do
Good choice. Like someone else said, buying a pup is only a small part of the total cost of owning a dog. Once you start telling your wife how much you're spending on birds and training sessions every month, she'll forget about the $1000 pup.

Re: Hoosier Boys Kennel - OUTSTANDING!!!
I can second that. Ryan and Ron did all of the bird and gun introductions with my pointing lab pup. I left the training sessions very happy with our progress.

Re: bumper question
Black/White bumpers are for training marks. The flashing as they spin helps the dog see them. White bumpers are good for force fetch and fetch to pile training, they are easy to see sitting in the grass. Orange bumpers are for blinds or making the dog find the bumper with this nose, since the orange...

Re: What breed to buy? NEW GUY NEEDS HELP!
I'm on my second pointing lab right now and couldn't be happier. He is great with my five year old and one year old. They shed obviously, but routine brushing and a Roomba makes it a non-issue. I considered getting a GSP this last time around, but decided to stick with what I knew. They are fantasti...

Hi from Central Indiana
I'm a Pointing Labrador fan that enjoys dog training and pheasant hunting. I have a 14 week old black pointing lab that I've begun to train. This is my second pointing Lab and my family's fourth. All of them great dogs. I trained my first lab without professional help, but I'm hoping to find a good ...
