You said you haven't scolded the pup for going inside. How is he supposed to know that's a wrong thing if you don't tell him? Good choice. Like someone else said, buying a pup is only a small part of the total cost of owning a dog. Once you start telling your wife how much you're spending on birds and training sessions every month, she'll forget about the $1000 pup.

I can second that. Ryan and Ron did all of the bird and gun introductions with my pointing lab pup. I left the training sessions very happy with our progress.
