it really depends on when you go. It can be excellent during the week, but I won't go on a weekend as I am just not into the crowds. Quail calls can be used to locate coveys. They are not going to come flying to you like a duck, but if you're lucky, they will whistle back. I've never heard of anyone calling pheasants.
