Hunting partner

I am located in NW Wyoming and would like to meet some new bird hunting friend. I have hunted mostly the Big Horn Basin ( Cody to Thermopolis ) for the last 25 years so it not like where to hunt but who to hunt with. I am 68 years old and in fair condition but at this age attrition is starting to ta...

Re: Hunting gloves

I start in the fall watching Walmart and when they get there new hunting clothes I look for a light Thinsulate glove that still gives you some dexterity, they usually only last a season or two but for the price thats okay. The problem is they never have the same gloves from year to year so if you find...

Re: Anyone hunt 2 different breeds of dogs

Great combo a pointer and a flusher. German Wirehaired Pointer and a standard size wirehaired Dachshund. The dachshund is also a great tracker and is riot to watch tackling a wing clipped bird. Dave

Re: O/U shotguns

If you find a good deal on a Franchi Renaissance I would buy it, they are a great gun with a lot features only found in much higher price range. I have a 20 gauge that I use on every thing including trap and skeet and it has been trouble but it's greatest attribute is it's weight when your chasing c...

Re: Strap Vest?

I just retired my 20+ year old Mcallister strap vest and replaced it with a Pella BirdPack it is kinda like a strap vest/ back pack all in one. Very comfortable and doesn't seem to be any warmer than a normal strap vest. It has all of the features I wanted in a vest-back cargo pocket w/coat straps, ...

Re: Obits and Tributes

This is a plaque I engraved for my first GWP and is fastened to rock at the last place we hunted chukars together and where her ashes were spread into the wind high above Bush Canyon. Her last hunt was one of the greatest memories of my life time of hunting birds, too long of a story for here but I ma...

Garmin Astro 320 dog distance

I hunt mostly public lands in Wyoming for chukar and blue grouse so there is a lot of room for my German Wirehaired pointer to run. I use a Garmin 320 Astro to keep track of her and have checked her track distance at the end of the day and it is usually 3x my miles (example mine 8 her's 24). Just cu...

hello from Wyoming

I live in Shell, Wyo. wich is located in the NW corner of the state and surrounded by public lands. That gives me the opportunity to bird hunt 5 months of the year, this area has a good population of blue grouse, sage grouse, chukars, huns and pheasants. So my dogs get a lot of hunt time although you w...
